Very First Grow Plan

Hi, I am new to growing and these forums. I would appreciate any help figuring out if the system I have in mind will work well.

The 600w Complete Grow Kit from htgsupply
http://htgsupply.com/Product-HTG-600w-Grow-Kit.asp
- Euro Reflector for cooling.
- Mh conversion bulb
- Tent is 47"x47"
Total=$659

6" Inline fan filter combo
-ducting included
Would the fan speed controller be a good idea?
Should I get any more ventalation?
Total=$205 W/o Speed controller

I may get a ph testing device as well.

I was thinking of growing 12 plants. Would 3 gallon bags be okay or could i go bigger?
I was planning on using the fan filter combo as a scrubber connected to the 6" inline fan included in the kit to pull the air through the Euro reflector.

I've tried to do my research and I've read the growing "Bible". I hope this is a good setup for my first time. Thanks in advance for your help.

worried about sound? then yes,you can cut the noise by running the fan slower

to many variables to guess. you in a cool basement or AC contolled room? or the attic? set it up, run it and see what your temps are.

a thermometer & soil moister meter are good for beginners as well.

thats a lot of plants for a small area.
having more soil makes the system more forgiving & easier to maintain.a buddy of mine grows 4 foot plants in 3/4 gallon pots but has to water daily & feed carefully.

Are you ordering the carbon filter from HTG? I can speak from experience that HTG's carbon filters really suck. I bought a 6" carbon filter, it was a good price, and it literally could not hide the smell of a fart. Stunk up my whole house. I had to dump it and I bought a Phresh Filter, which ended up being about the same price as HTG's filter. The Phresh Filter works wonderfully and I would highly recommend it.

I've changed my plan a little. I'm going for the 400w kit instead because I wanna make a mother keeping area. The tent has room for 9 small plants in 3 gal or 6 in bigger containers. I am in an apartment in a colder winter climate. Temp shouldn't be a huge issue. I decided to get http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-C.A.P.-OZN-Jr-Ozone-Generator.asp as a replacment to the fan filter combo; ozone sounds good and it is cheaper. I decided to stick with the inline fan that comes in the kit for venting. Maybe I'll spend the cash on a fan if it gets too hot.
