i have an outdoor grow.

what is the ph if this stuff and how good does it hold moisture. cause im going away for a week and my plants can only last 3 days with out watering. but its in walmart brand soil. if i added about 4 inches of verm to the top of the soil will that help hold moisture and make them last longer?

u could just fill a lg soda bottle and stick it in the top of the soil with a small hole in the lid, it'll drip till empty, do a test with one and see

Vermiculite helps retain water when it is mixed in soil but I don't think it would help on the top of the soil. What about a basic drip irrigation set up with a timer on your outdoor faucet?

my set up is too far away and what would a hose going into my woods look like?

Soda bottle idea was good. I know there are water retaining crystals but idk how well they'd work ontop of the soil. I say mulch heavily and go with the soda bottle idea...thats gonna be your best bet.

I second this idea. Mulch is really very effective. Amazon.com also sells dry water. I have never used it though.
