ventilation questions and concerns

Ok so Im going to be setting up my grow room shorty but Im hindered by my ventilation. The room is a spare bedroom Im going to be splitting into 2 sections veg/flower 4x5 and 6x5 respectively. The whole room itself is much bigger than those dimensions. I will be using a hid 400 mh and 600w or 1000w hps havent decided yet but definently both digital. The room has a window but my landlords shop is right outside the window so I can utilize it but have to be somewhat inconspicous. The odor in my apt is a non factor as I own my own apt with just the wife and I and dont have many visitors. Im wondering if a passive intake from the window and 6" inline fan exhausting the air into the rest of the apt which is a decent size is going to be adequate ventilation. Im going to tie the air flow of the 2 rooms together with a peice of 6" ducting at the top of the two rooms with a nice bend to prevent light from entering the flowering room. Any feedback or ideas much appreciated!

It might work, lots of variables though. You in a colder climate where you're gonna be bringing in cold air?

About exhausting into the living space. It's gonna really stink, id invest in a carbon filter. Gurantee your neighbors that share a wall or are above/below you will smell it without filtering.

Thanks for the reply. I was considering ona gel as an option? Im trying to be as cost effecient for my first grow until I can start upgrading things a bit. I did see a smaller ozone generator that is supposed to work up to 2000ft cubed for a decent price. Also its a temperate climate and winter is approching. Temps will get down to about 20 degrees.

I have somewhat 90% similar conditions ..

spare bed room .. 1/3 made in to grow room ..

6" ventilation and active carbon filter exhausting the filtered air in to the rest of my apartment (witch is 82 sq. meters big)

passive intake ..tho I run my old 4" ventilation with one of the two intake holes I have .. with a pice of tube to another cooler room .. to "collect" fresh cold air/Co2 .. but I dont have the option to leave a window open either .. tho I have open ventilation holes over my windows and its a new apartment so indoor climate is pretty nice dry and steady

Im in Denmark scandinavia so its not that hot here .. but still had problems this summer with my 600W HPS reaching +85F in the grow room ..

had to make a cool hood .. now I can keep it at a perfect 78-80F so do go for a cool tube or even better hood .. will solve many problems with high heat and now Im also able to keep it at 15" instead of 20" from my plants witch give me much better light ..

when I did start indoors I did`t have a filter either .. when they began to flower I almost couldn't stay in here not talking about sleeping .. it do stink .. A LOT !!!

2 hours after I got the filter on there was no smell what so ever .. and I could sleep :D

a "few" pictures for inspirations maybe ?

small rooms and big HID lights is no joke ..

I have use lots of time work and money to get mine perfect ..

so please ask what ever you like .. and Ill do my best to help you out get it right the fist time ..

but a nice good strong 6" ventilation and a filter to fit is a must if you want a 600W or bigger .. and a cool tube/hood is a VERY good move .. best investment/pice of DIY I ever made ..

Ona won't clean up that much air efficiently...spend more upfront get a 6 inch fan and carbon filter.

It will work much better, more efficient in the long run. Stay away from ozone generators, not good for your plants.

Thanks for all the help. I will definently be using hoods now...and I suppose the best way for me to deal with the smell is going to have to be a carbon filter. So run cold outside air through the hoods and then through carbon filter and blow that air outside the grow room. How much smell does it take care of? That will kind of determine where I vent it.
