Ventilation issues - ventilating a sealed off room

Hey guys,

I have a 3.5x5.5 walk in wardrobe that I'm using as grow space. At the moment I just have a 400W hps and one flowering power plant with a small fan directed at it. I manage the smell with a little air purifier that just about handles it, and I ventilate just by opening the door every now and again.

I really want to upgrade to like 6-8 plants using a 600W or a 1000W bulb. The problem is there are no air vents, windows or anything like that, it's basically just a sealed off room apart from the door. Unfortunately as I just rent the apartment I cannot go around knocking holes in walls.

Thus ventilation will become a problem as the only way air can get into the room is under and around the door.

So I was wondering if anyone had any solutions to this problem? Maybe if I placed an input fan or two by the bottom of the door and then hung an extractor fan with a carbon filter directed towards the top of the door? Or would I have to just make a few of them bucket fans with febreeze and open the door periodically?

The room is like 12 foot tall so there's plenty of air space, it's just getting the fresh air in that's the problem!

Thanks a lot for any suggestions

i know it may be a hassel and a little bit of extra money but if your willing to upgrade your set up and grow bigger, then why not go to homedepot and buy another door for that walkin that you can cut holes into. it may cost a little bit extra but youll have the proper ventilation and your plants are sure to love you.

Thanks a lot for the helpful suggestions, but it's not my flat - I rent it off a landlord. As such I can't make any alterations to the building =(

Any other ideas?

Thanks

looks to me like a portable ac unit is your only option. if you cant cut into the door/drywall....

Why are you so worried about a couple of little holes in a wall or door that are easily fixed? Like that wont be the least of your worries if your landlord comes in and see's some makeshift contraption sticking out of your closet hiding your grow room! The other guy who said get another door has the right idea. You get a door that fits the existing opening, you put that one on, you cut an intake at the bottom and an exhaust at the top. When you need to you put original door back on, NO PROBLEM? If your growing anything even remotely worth smoking you can make back the $50 for the door in about 5 minutes.

i rent also, go to homedepot buy a cheep junk door that you can hack holes into it, paint it to match the existing one. then take the original door from that closet that is your landlords property and store it untill your done and need to switch out doors again. ive already gone thru 3 bedroom doors. altho for punching holes thru them not growing.

i use the door open close method - i think that ventilation w cut out doors might be more conspicuous than a cracked door my 2 cent
might get a air cooler/humidifier unit
