right well deep breath. im planning on buying a darkroom 120 grow tent. which is 1.2x1.2x2.0 meters. its a thermal insulated so heat might be a problem with the 600 watt light that ill be using. so i was wandering what the ideal power of exhaust/extraction fan i would need, and what carbon filter to acompany it. ive been looking on various websites and online shops, and curious as to whether its possible to have a fan that is too powerful for the grow tent. i got too many questions at the moment lol. any help would be brilliant.

With HID lighting you should be exchanging the air at least once a minute, up to three or four times depending on how close the ambient temps are to the temp you want the room to run at. Your room is about 110 cubic feet, but you should always bump up the fan if you are using a carbon filter or lots of ducting, especially if it has bends in it. No sharp bends though, ever.
Carbon filters usually come with a cfm rating, match that as close as possible to your fan and you should be right.
I'd say about 200-250 cfms should be enough, based on a properly matched filter and short, straight ducting runs, with ambient temps being 5 degrees below desired temps.
The only way that a fan can be too powerful is if it extracts so much air that the humidity drops lower than you want it to be.
