I currently have a 1'x2'x3' little cabinet with 2 80CFM computer fans with currently 6 cfl's but i want to add more but its hard to keep temps down as it is.
So my ? is what kind of fan should i get to keep temps down? My temps now can get up to 100 but i keep the door open during light hours to keep temps in the 80's.
I want temps at 75-80.

Any ideas? would like to put a homemade carbon filter on it too.

Thanks for the help need answered ASAP

a PC fan that gets 80CFMs... 120mms??

get a bigger fan, put the intakes on the bottom of the grow cab, and the exhaust on top......

i had a similar prob with my setup i needed to add more light and a filter but the temps were already too high like 90 and above so i went to walmart got a poster frame with plexi glass (it was like 3 bucks) and cut the plexi to size with a razor blade, put it in the cab between the lights and plants, and BAM! you got yourself a perfect heat berriar. totally droped temps so much it was a 2 degree diff from night and day temps.as for the filter you dont even need one if you can seal off the hole area from the lights and if not just run some tubing from both fans (running both as outtake) into 1 tube and than into a diy can filter(there easy to make and cheap) hope my babble helps, if noth though my bad. some pics and more discription wold help a great deal. keep rockin the ganja

That's a good idea, put a drip tray under it, if you're cabinet is on carpet. What kind of temp differences do you get by doing that? What size grow area.

i am building a bubbleponics system for my indoor grow. I live in a small apartment so odor is a huge concern for me.
I want to know is it realistic to be able to grow in a small apartment ( prob around 10 plants) without the odor getting me busted?
also i have a xtra sun air cooled reflector running offa nextgen 400w/600w/ electronic ballast. I am using a ge 400 w metal halide in the early stages and a agrosun 600w super red sodium for the later stages. Does anyone know if i have to worry about the extra power usage drawing attention.

Well still looking for an answer. Does anyone have a cabinet my size that does not have temp problems?
would a inline fan with 100cfm do better than a pc fan with 100cfm?

thanks tyrent you were the only one that has helped and i think i might try that if i cant find another solution, but i was thinking of putting lights on the side so it just seems like that would be a difficult setup.

Do you lose any light going to the plant using plexiglass?

Thanks again

CFL's do get quite hot if you have enough of them. I would agree that the plexiglass or even a real pane of glass would deflect heat away. Its also better to have a larger fan for your exhaust than your intake as you have a temp problem. Or try wiring the intake to a fan speed controller to slow it down.
