Veg Light Cycle 24hrs on or 18/6?

What is the best for veging under 600w hps 24hrs on .... or let them sleep or whatever?
my buddie keeps telling me to do 18hrs on 6hrs off or at least 20hrs on 6hrs off

anyone have an opinion???

20 on 4 off is about right for a normal veg light cycle.

18/6 or 16/8 imo r the best options. u absolutely r better off with some dowtime which always=growtime!

agreed. To give you an explanation rather than just a number, 24/0 will give you super short plants with barely any space inbetween nodes. Possibly try a few different schedules through the next harvests to figure out whats best for your setup.

During the day cycle roots tend to absorb nutrients more than grow themselves longer, whereas most of the new root growth comes at night while the leaves are not photosynthesizing, so as thexception said, a little down time can really improve overall growth. Not that root growth ever stops unless root bound...

18/6 save yourself 6 hours of wasted wattage in my opinion is the ultimate goal the less money put out to get to the end product is always the way I go!
