Veg Box... Let me know what ya think

I recently purchased a wardrobe from Big Lot's for all my starters but you could easily have it set up for a perpetual grow of 5 plants.

It has a top level that I put a 2' cfl ballast this is about 12" high (perfect for clones and maybe possible for small mothers, but I am using another area) then it has a left and right side, each is about 4' tall and is about 2.8ft X 3.2ft, one side has no shelves (area for larger plants or monthers in my case) I have a 175w in that area and other side has two adjustable shelves (I am only using one to divide in about half (5 x 1 gallon pots fit perfect and 6 will fit a bit tight in each section) these will be my veggin plants and will be moved to a flowering station.

I am building this box for a clone/mother/veggin box. I have mylar rapping the inside and the mini floro's were also on sale at Big Lot's 3 pack for $15 and they are 70 watts ea. I have a total of 8 in the cab, maybe I'll use that last one (I bought 3 of the 3 packs of lights)

This was not cheap, but not too expensive about $140 for lights, $24 fans, $30 mylar, $13 duct tape and insulation tape for better seals, $30 exhaust vents, $100 cabinet so about $340 . I think there are several things that can be done better on the next one and for a little less cost, maybe able to get cost down below the $300 mark.


Feel free to give me any feedback on how to improve on this as I will be starting a second one of these in the next month so any help would be appreciated.

Ok, here's the first one's

I went down and picked up a few clones at a dispensary, got five seem to have gotten four different strains too, they were labeled 2x Silver Kush, Grand Daddy Kush, Headband, and one other that isn't labeled but is a purp of some kind from what I remember them saying the name and that one is not looking too great right now, very droopy, I'm going to put it up in the plant prob section in a few.

I'll post more photos as the thing starts filling up.

thats not to bad of a setup, i would cut out that lower right shelf and the middle... and have one big grow section for the mh/hps.... and the top for seedlings.... looks like your already working on the ventilation.

No need to cut it is a removable shelf with a light attached underneath. This thing can be set up in the way you said; have a veg on one side and flower on other if you want, heck, it came with another shelf so, if you really wanted to, you could attach it to the other side and have 4 different approx 2X2X2 area's.

you need to do what AKISGIFT said...

get rid of the th whole right veg chamber and only use the Top one for veg...(add a few more lights)
and then use the whole bottom (left and right) for flower since you need way more room for flower then veg anyway.

but all in all a real nice setup

could do that, but I already have a 3X3 tent with a 400w set up for flowering so I don't need it for flowering, at least not now, but keep the ideas coming cause I'm getting ready to do another so I might change my mind on what or how I use the 2nd box and I may have a friend that will want one.
