Variac fan controller with tornado box fan

i have been looking at a 7.5 amp variac speed controller for a 10 inch 4250m3 6amp 550 watt tornado box fan shown in the picture its to powerful for my needs so its either a speed controller to lower the speed or buy something different like 10 inch isomax something like that..anyway

Has any got a variac speed controller with any sized box fan?

Does it hum/buzz ?

What are the speed settings?

Just put it on a variac, it won't get noisy from doing that and it will allow you to slow it as much as you want. If it draws 6 amps you will want a variac that can handle that many amps. Make sure the input voltage on the variac is correct for your utility.

I did read people have added sensor an stuff to the variac so the fan goes from your set max to idle speed any idea what id be looking for?
