Vanilla Kush, Lemon Skunk, Pineapple Chunk, and Rocklock First Outdoor Grow

Hey Everyone, I've been reading up on RIU for about a year now and this summer I finally decided to go for it. So I picked up some seeds from Attitude and started them indoors under cfl's for about 2 or 3 weeks since I live in the midwest and didn't want to risk losing them to the cold. I have four plants, one of each strain: Vanilla Kush(Barney's Farm), Lemon Skunk(DNA Genetics), Pineapple Chunk(Barneys Farm), and Rocklock(DNA Genetics). I am using FF Ocean Forest Soil and for Nutrients I am using the Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom from Fox Farms as well. I didn't start the journal from seed or even veg because I figured the real action people want to see is the flowering and I'm sure this is when I'll need the most help. I'm going to try to upload a video of my four girls which are just showing their pre-flowers. This is also the first growth I've seen with some sort of deficiency, possibly a Sulfur deficiency, but if anyone knows or has a better idea of what is causing the yellow new growth I'd appreciate it! Thanks and I hope you guys enjoy the journal.

Hey RIU, no responses but at least a few people have been checking out this grow. I went back out there today to give my girls a spray down with neem oil and was pleasantly surprised with the progress they are making. I'm still a bit concerned with how late into october they are going to go until they are ready but it's out of my control so we'll just have to wait and see! We've been getting a lot of rain recently and it has caused a few minor issues: One of my lower branches on the Vanilla Kush snapped from the heavy downpours and I am starting to see a couple of the leaves on the Pineapple Chunk and Rocklock show over watering. So a question I'll throw out there is how do I continue to use my Fox Farm Nutrients when in the midst of a rainy stretch(about 2 weeks), should I simply hold off on the nutes until the soil has time to dry or should I concentrate the nutrients in less water? Any help is appreciated, Thanks! Here are some pics I took, Sorry for the horrible quality, all I have is an iPhone:

Hello again RIU,
I went out to my site a few days ago to feed and spray the girls down with neem-oil and as I was walking out I saw a deer from about 100 yards run passed my grow area. I had already put moth balls and irish soap out to deter deer but it seems as though that has degraded so I picked up some more moth balls this morning before I went out to give them a simple Blackstrap Unsulphered Molasses and water mix. The Vanilla Kush is by far the furthest along with TONS of bud sites, which is perfect because that is the strain I was most excited to grow considering it is a Cannabis Cup Winner:weed:. Then I would say the Pineapple Chunk is starting to show some very nice bud formation(coincidently another Barney's Farm strain). The Rocklock is starting to show buds but still very small and the one that gives me the most concern is the Lemon Skunk. I still don't see any actual buds, just budding sites with leaf clusters. This is the only sativa dominant hybrid I decided to grow, since it was free, and I am certainly glad that I knew to stick with deep indicas and high percent indica-sativa crosses so that they'll finish earlier without the frost risk like I will be having with the Lemon Skunk. One thing I read about the lemon skunk though is that it is best cut down for flavor and aroma around the 7-8th week mark of flowering which means I may not have the most potent smoke(like if I were able to let it go into the 10th week), but it sure will be a flavorful smoke! As always thanks for checking this out and PLEASE COMMENT, I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

P.S. Sorry for the shaky video, I was being eaten alive by mosquitos out there.

Hey RIU,
Here are some more pics for you to enjoy, I will be harvesting in two weeks due to weather but if it somehow stays relatively warm at night I will push them to 3 weeks which would be ideal. Let me know what you think and to any upper midwest growers I'd love to hear when you are planning to harvest!

I will now be pushing these girls until at least October 16th, the sativa might want another week but it would be risky with the temp forecast. I don't know what I was smoking when I said two weeks... oh wait I do, lol.

Hello RIU, the growing season is coming to an end and based on the weather it looks like I will be harvesting my indicas on the 17th and the sativa/indica crosses on 24th. I would love opinions from people on whether I could or should push my indicas along with my sativas and just harvest them all on the 24th. I am far way from my girls so it is expensive to travel to them but I also don't want to risk losing all my work and time from the cold. The low for the 17th is 38F and on the 24th its 34F. Any help is appreciated since i've had none this whole journal, kinda defeating the purpose.

Should be fine to harvest them all. Find a better place and plant them earlier next year, the plants look great but they didn't get enough light to yield what they should have.

I agree, I was very limited on where I could grow and knew they wouldn't get an ideal amount of light in the forest but didn't have much of an option. Thanks for your input!

That sucks nobody posts huh. I think you need to let them go more, I have a PC also outside and a LA woman They were planted around the same time and they were slow to flower also, If you can go put a Black trash bag over them at night to keep frost off. We just did it last night and the ladies were good with a 30F night. Make sure tops aren't touching bag as best as you can. Or make a Makeshift green house if you can with sticks and a sheet or whatever you can use,

So the weather and forecast weren't very promising so I harvested my vanilla kush and pineapple chunk a week early in order to have a guaranteed harvest. The lemon skunk and rocklock that are still out there and will be harvest on halloween and hopefully they will be in decent enough shape when I go back to harvest them. Their buds were quite small so another week will only do so much but they were too small for me to harvest them any earlier. Growing outdoors in the midwest has been very frustrating and I can't say I'd recommend it, if you can do indoor, do it. I was however very happy to see the lovely purple hue of the pineapple chunk from the cold weather. Take a look at some pics and let me know what you think, thanks RIU.

Nice to see you had a harvest with the cold weather, I let my PC go all the way to 1st week of nov.-Hows the smoke and did your PC smell fruity at all?

Yeah I got a small harvest out of them, obviously disappointing not having the weather to let them fully mature but the smoke is fantastic! I won't do outdoors again so I will be getting a small cabinet or PC Case grow going next with some Trainwreck I've been dying to throw in some dirt. And to answer your question about the P.C. it smells fantastic! Just like pineapple with a slight greeny musk. The high is also nice and heady, great social smoke with some buzzzzz in your legs and lasted around 2.5 hours. I'm assuming its more heady than stoney due to the early harvest. I also have another PC that I will do indoors so I can compare it to the fully mature version. Good luck with your 1000w SCROG, looks like it's gonna be sick!
