Dtoad: Scrog gave you some good information and the only thing I see as a problem is that with CFL's everyone is going for lumens when the color or wavelength of the light is what seems to be most important. I grow with T-5's but I think what I'm going to tell you is applicable. Start out with a 5,000 to 6,000K blue light for vegging. Some say the more the better. Keep them close and you might consider a progressive light schedule.
Start with 20 hours on and four off. Drop the lights by one hour a week which increases the darkness by one hour. At about 14 to 13 hour of light you'll see some changes in your plants. At the very first sign of preflowering switch your nutes and light frequency. Go to a 1/2 strength flowering formula for a week, until you see that they like it, and change your lamps to 2700 to 2800K reds. This better mimics the fall light plants get from the sun because of the earth's position on its axis. If they take to the flowering formula, and mine always do, then go to full strength. I keep dropping the light to 10 hours of light and 14 dark until the trikes are coffee with cream color or red. It's a very gentle transition through the three growing stages and it results in some good meds. I hope this helps. HSA
