Using plastic as a glass shield?

I might use a product called Lexan XL10 as my glass shield.

Apparently this plastic is very transparent it lets a lot of lumens through, its even more transparent than glass. They use this stuff on TV displays and projectors. How ever they do filter out UV light, but HPS bulbs dont emit UV light, and CFLs emit very little UV light.

You could buy this at homedepot for like less than $10.
