Using Neem oil in the root zone/reservoir

So someone mentioned and I googled it a bit but apparently some people use neem oil in their reservoir to prevent spider mites? I've been having spider mite problems for a while now. the situation never gets too bad because I always stomp it out by using a natural dish soap + neem oil spray every 2 days but it seems they always creep back slowly after a couple weeks of stopping spraying.

So is neem oil in the reservoir safe? how much do I use? Do I just add it to the reservoir with my nutes?

Im running DWC

I know nothing about reservoirs/hydro/air but neem is commonly used as a soil drench ,a small amount off neem is taken internally acting from the inside out .

The only other thing I can tell you is to be carefull in what neem product you use many are combo neem soap and oil that may not be OK for roots

I'd do azamax in res instead of neem. Azamax is actually made from neem but contains the active ingredient of neem mainly.

If your target is spidermites, why not spray neem on the leaves where the bugs are? It's a far more direct approach and certainly more effective.

Azamax is a concentrated form of neem that is more effective against spidermites.

Whatever you use, spray twice a week for three weeks, preferably in veg or at least before week 3 of bloom.

For spidermite control after that time, use Mighty Wash.

So just to answer my question for people who see this in the future I was discussing the subject w/ some of my peeps majoring in agriculture/biosciences. Apparently whether added to the reservoir or used as a foliar spray the plant still takes in the active compounds such as azamax. Adding it it to the root system means a faster uptake but to me does not seem like it is worth the risk when it can be applied to the foliage. Furthermore, when used in the root system the ingredients in neem oil can be found in the plant for a month which I do not want to be doing in flower.

I can vouch for neem oil. Way back when I bought cheap soil. I had a ton of root aphids and used hydrogen peroxide and water to kill the ones in the soil (babies, eggs, and aphids) I used neem as a top dressing and a foliar (under leaves too). After foliar (10-15mins) use ph'd water as foliar to wash neem off. If you're in flower use 1/2 strength foliar. It can burn pistols. Just buy soil from the local grow shop and you shouldn't have any bugs. I ask them every time before I buy a bag " does this have bugs in it?" I go to same grow store and ask ever time. I've never had and bugs, spiders or anything else like that, since doing this. I was dwc for a while but my first 2 yrs were Home Depot soil.
