using CFLs to veg then HPS to flower?

will i get decent results from using CFLs for vegging and then switching to a HPS to flower? how many CFLs and what wattage would be needed for about 3 plants? (the real wattage they actually use, not the wattage they claim to be comparable to)

How big is your HPS? you could grow them all the way through with the HPS and add in the cfl's for side lighting, etc... My first few grows which were CFL, i used 8 of the 26 W, and that started 4 plants, but i put them under HPS before they got above a foot tall... I'd use HPS the whole time, but that's me...
