Useing tape to seperate??

My friend has a plant thats huge and very dence. I used tape to seperate this plant, without breaking it. I first unrolled the size piece i needed. I left the two ends sticky but the middle piece i folded in half so the sides stuck to eachother with no sticky exposed. I just stuck the tape to the bins the plants in. I can tell the overall exposer to the light has greatly increased by separating the canopy into 4 or 5 parts. I didnt have ties on hand.

????? I am sure this isnt a new idea has anyone tryed it before and if so how did things work out?

Thanks, irie.

I would use kit string instead, no sticky stuff, takes up less space (less light blockage), don't have to worry about the sticky wearing off and separating the tapes. Plus, if there is any possibility of the light warming up the tape and producing fumes or a smell, you won't have to worry about that with string.
