i was actually rather serious. i meant it as a compliment. i think there are 100s of urban legends that should be cleared up. i said thank you. i really thought this would make a cool thread. now you've just hurt my feelings. i was backing you up.

I think that people need to know the difference between urban legends and what really works. Most people know its just common sense but you always have some people that will buy into just about anything. Gee if they would read the basics about growing most of this wouldn't be needed.

should there be a new forum labeled as Urban legends? I'm sure there's quite a few out there, and i'm sure people legitimately want to know if they work or not. maybe call the thread "urban legends and experiments"? just an idea..

Another one I've heard:


clipping off all your first fan leaves will cause new growth> well of course the plant needs leaves to grow.

Reality: each leaf on a plant feeds the new growth coming from the base of it. removing leaves is like removing feeding tubes. unless they are damaged do not remove any leaves.
