Ultra Stealth Journal :)

Well I posted last night about my plans and blueprint of my new stealth grow area and I started today so I figured id start a main thread updating it regulary as I update the area. This is pretty much 100% stealth and when finished will not be noticed at all. Also a good idea for your nosey house mates :D.

The desk ;)

The grow area :D

Notice anything yet? The drawer has been slightly modified :P it was wayyy longer :D.

The pullout

The grow area:

Ok so thats pretty much the basic layout here with quite a bit of room what you see isnt really as much space as I have to use but i have enough space for atleast 3 or 4 plants with the drawer in. The fans will have cut out areas in the back very close to the wall so light leaks from them will be unseen behind the desk ;).

However I have ran into a few problems with 2 things. One would be the actual drawer since its been shortened when you go pull the drawer out it exposes everything inside.

Possible fix: Just simply nail a large peice of wood to the back of the drawer so it catches the inside of the desk when pulling out (eliminates light leaks and stops it from coming out ) I can still access inside the grow area by simply removing the drawer above :).

next problem is light leaks in general. The lights are leaking up through the other drawers so when you pull them out you see the light and also it leaks a little out the left side of the drawers.

Possible fix: Actually build a seperate box (half of a box really) that is the size of the space of the area I have and push it up against the back of the grow area covering the plants, lights, fans etc thus eliminating all light leak period. The only downside to this is taking care of my plants might be a little hard to access them this way...how i ever I could always cut a door into the back of the desk and put it back on with screws ;).

You guys think this is a pretty stealthy idea and will work out? thanks!

Maybe I'm confused here, or just sober. I'm not really following how you plan to have 3/4 plants in that tiny area. Especially with the drawer closed. If you have problems with the light leaking from the fans just make a black cardboard housing that makes a right angle so the doesn't hit the wall. This is why they have PC grow boxes. TBH, If I'm following this the way I think I am you should rethink where you want to put your plants.

u don't have very much space to work with there if anything take out the drawers keep the fronts glue/nail em on. even if you do grow in that it won't be good for much but vegging you're gonna want atleast 3 feet to grow in up and down and a good bit of floor space also if you want 3-4 plants and about 400-600watts of HIDs

If you do decide to go along with this plan. Your gonna have to seal it all for smell.( That includes the bottom) And yeah like Stonie said, You'd have to glue the fronts of the drawers to the desk for maximum room. I know what its like getting grow op plans shot down man, sorry. =/ If you grown anything in there ( which is possible ) it would have to be a little lowryder plant.

It looks like a really tight area, going to be hard to smell-proof as well. I have been thinking about similar stealth designs for myself, it definitely cant be seen at least so that is a good thing. Nothing conspicuous about having desk drawers haha.

Yea since you mentioned lowryder I can see how about 1 would fit in there. I have a VERY similiar desk and only see (considering ive allready grown a lowryder strain) room for one plant. But you can still do it, also you cant keep taking from a lowryder... its autoflower.. it will die after its done budding...

unless your talking about a non-autoflower lowryder in which case I didnt know they exsisted..

Best of luck man, please update with more pics once you start moving along!

If he wants stealth then HID wouldnt be the way.. he should grow one plant with like 3-4 cfls.. he should be good.

update ;) .. I have almost finished this project not really anything that i can show quite yet however...i have fixed it with absolutely no light leaks :P even from the fans...it leaks but you cant see it unless you move the entire desk...instead of cutting holes out for the fans i actually just took a drill dremel tool and drilled lots of holes in the fan area thus using the desk peice as an actual vent...alot less light leaks through and air goes through it fine. another easy light fix was simple card board..works wonders... i just cut a peice off with the flap end and pushed it in...it fit perfectly and it holds tightly in place w.o glue or nething else sealing off all lights from other drawers...also nailed another peaice of wood to the back of the bottom drawer where the grow area is located thus blocking off the other light leaks and making it where you cannot pull the drawer out exposing the grow. the only way to access it is to remove the top drawer and remove the cardboard ;) pics soon!
