UFO + Aeroponic setup or 600Watt HPS + Aeroponic? *PIC*

Hi,

I have grown two batches before succesfully but that was in soil. I am very familiarized with Aeroponic now that I have been reading for a few days. I have this in mind:

We have all read the High Times article(s) about UFO and it's 12% higher yield than a 400W MH light but 20% less than a 600W HPS with greater resin build up. Has anyone actually tried the UFO out? Is it going to produce airy buds?

I just don't want to put down $550 on something that might now work. Also, could I supplement it with more LED lights?

Thanks

If you go through with the LED set up i wanna keep a close eye on it because the article was very interesting and i would like to see the outcome of one of these... its only 90 watts its crazy..

Yeah it was interesting. I don't know what to believe. I don't believe the ebay ads but this was a HT article. I would assume the UFO manufacturer just pays HT? Probably not but is this light really legit?

i dont trust the UFO yet. Too much money. I did however order 4 14w 225 count blue led pannels from ebay. I plan to use them with T5s and a couple CFLs. Ill probably get a few red ones also

Sup guys, I have been very interested in Growing with LED's. I stumbled upon a video starting from seed to flower and I think it was at week 10, Not a UFO but still same thing. It was Produced by a company in the UK or something and wouldnt give the specifics on how to build since if it does give more yield then they will produce them for sale for general public.

Here is a video I found on youtube compareing HPS vs LED grow day 25 flowering.
YouTube - LED vs. HPS 25 days into flowering.

LED growing seems very promiseing in the near future, For me, its still to expensive.

late, :joint:

Yeah but this article goes both ways. The ufo did better than the 400w mh but less than the hps. I think the 600w digital hps is the best way to go.

YouTube - LED Marijuana Grow

LED VS MH/HPS EXPERIMENT. (This video actually give yield info, that other youtube vid was crap, sorry Murderin)

Heres some of the results shown at end of video.
400w HID
Total Power Used 420Kwh
Yield 91g or .217g/Kwh

LED
Power Used 99.9Kwh
Yield 36g or .36g/Kwh

As you can see the LED is alot more energy efficient, it just doesnt seem to grow heavy duty plants.

HPS HPS HPS, LEds just dont work. Dont believe me if you dont want to, i bet youve heard that theres been grows that "prove" LEDs are better but just look at any regular LED journal and youll see the disappointment

i agree with valuablebariable

leds are shit. i dont care what the article says.

if u look at grows done with LEDs u will see that plants are extremely stretched and very small growth.

there is no way on earth that LEDs can produce better light than a 400w hps. hps are designed to produce kelvins closer to the suns... i know its impossible to 'clone' the suns kelvins but its closer than LEDs.

just think about it. small LEDs that dont get hot and producing very minimum light.... no way.

if u wanna throw away half a grand on some LEDs then go ahead. id rather pay quarter of a grand for a 600w hps and get better results.

id read the grow faq buddy

I too seen the ad in HT last month. The one where JC gives the review. He said that he doesnt have that much experience with them either but will definitely write an in depth article when he does. I think that because they really don't give off a lot of heat ventilation wouldnt be that much of a task. Has anyone ever used UFO's with co2? What was the outcome?
