UC roots

Hey guys, I took a look around but didn’t really find my answer. I grabbed some uc roots for my RDWC. I don’t have any issues and have never run anything. Bottle says 1-7ml per gal, I have seen guys say as high as 15.. I just want to toss some in to see if it does any benefit and was thinking of just keeping on the low end on 1ml gal. Is there anything I should know or is there a better concentration I should use. I consider it for maintenance I guess and proactive to keep my root zone trouble free threw flowering. I haven’t dealt with this stuff before, pool shock or Enzimes or bennies for that matter. Any tips regarding UC roots would be appreciated.

I believe it’s Hypochlorous acid. I am aiming for a sterile environment.
i use southern ag bennies now but i used HTH pool shock for a few years. all you need is a scale accurate to 0.01 grams to use it. you won't get anything cheaper.

Yeah I think I saw that conversation in my travels, I agree that’s the better route. I figured I would start off with this while I source and read up more on the pool shock. I do have scales as well. This is way more expensive for sure but was a easy way for me to get my feet wet. I have seen the arguments about paying for watered down pool shock. I was looking at hth on amazon and there was so many variations i closed it and order this haha. I’m thinking I will just keep it at the 1ml dose to start and use that for add back as well. I’m running a fresh res right now with Lucas on day 21 of 12/12. Looking to toss some booster in this weekend so left some room for this acid and a pk boost.

I’m not sure sterile is the answer, peroxide seems to cure minor issues, even with uc roots, problems can happen if there are light leaks or res temps are out. I ran uc roots casually last time and I never had any issues with the roots, minimal res changes. This time, I have had issues, not root rot but maybe some other bacteria. My remedies seem to bother the plants more then whatever it was. A splash of 29% h2o2 seems to do more then running 2-3ml a gallon of ucroots.

I finally broke down and bought some Southern AG, (shipping is more then the bottle) I will give bennies a try, planning on it when I switch back to that dirty floranova bloom.

So from what I have learnt from trial and error, if there is bacteria swinging the ph, ucroots in my experience, will not help, pool shock, will not help. Peroxide however, stabilized it for me whenever I use it, even in small amounts.

For maintenance, uc roots works fine if that’s the path you are taking. I can’t get hydro guard or southern Ag in Canada and didn’t want to use something with little feedback related to what I’m doing, there are too many products.
