two 400w mh or 400w hps and 400w mh for seedling/veg

Would there be any benefit of running a HPS bulb durring seedling/veg I have 2 400w switchable lights both currently running MH lamps should I switch one to HPS Pros and cons please

To get the most out of using two bulbs with different spectrums, they either need to be very close together, such as with a lamp made for two bulbs, or connected to a light mover to blend the lights. Otherwise, only the middle plants get a good blend of light spectrums and the ones to either side only get strong light from one bulb. If you can't blend the lights well and none are enhanced-spectrum plant bulbs, just use the MH's.

When blended well, standard MH/HPS bulb pairs emit a better spectrum than either alone. It was the preferred lamp setup before enhanced-spectrum technology progressed considerably. Whether that pairing is worth the cost & trouble once high-tech bulbs become envolved is debatable.

I use a hps/mh in both veg and flower, but I use more MH watts in Veg and less MH watts in Flower. So far I am loving it.

1 ceramic mh. Full spectrum single bulb. Use it for both veg and flower.
I want to order a couple of these to replace my 150HPS and 400MH in Veg and to replace the 400MH in Flower. Unfortunately both of the 400's are brand new Eye Horti MH and were not cheap, so gotta get some hours on em first.

We've been trying out GE PSL/XO 400's in all phases of growth with wonderful results. It's hard to compare them to our previous enhanced HPS's because they were 430's in a different grow setup, but we honestly can'y say the 430's did any better.

Ideally it's MH for Veg and HPS for Bloom MAINLY due to the diff light sprectrum they both give off, each one benefiting a certain stage or growth.
You CAN veg with an HPS, just expect wider internodal spacing as they search and reach for the spectrum they really want.............MH !
Meaning, less compact plant structure than what was intended and therefore less compact bud sites which always effects yield, even it's minimal.

Thanks for the replies I threw a HPS bulb in for a few days pretty much all advice was right plants started to stretch a little bulbs were to far apart not a good spectrum cross the area were the bulbs are is really my flowering area just started some seeds 4x FMS pure ak and 2x FMS x-line extreme indica so have them under the HIDs to speed up veg so I can pick my moms and get a sog perpetual going idea was instead of a single 1000w use two 400w HPS mainly for better light penetration 2 origins of light so 2 axis in which light can travel will upgrade bulbs and hood after first harvest just got the cheapest ready to go light kit with a good digital ballast riveted the two wings together and added a vent hole to hook up to exhaust. here is a couple pics of the room I was still setting it up so excuse the mess also already switched a few things out bigger co2 generator and black Rubbermaid res
