Tv from the 60's.70's & 80's .

Anybody here ever switched their tv's signal input from cable to antenna & got a shit load of channels not on cable ?

Im growing at home now & put a tv in the basement area where i trim & instead of running cable i bought a $10 "digital tv " antenna from radio shack , im now getting some kick ass tv channels that i dont get with my $180 a month cable line up .

I get a channel called ME TV & its entire line up is of the top tv shows from the 50's 60's,70's & 80's , right now im watching The Mod Squad & the cars are unbelievable.

Shit they have Bonanza , Chips , Emergency , wanted dead or alive ( steve Mcqueen ) , marshall dillion , rawhide ( clint eastwood ) gunsmoke , the streets of san francisco , night gallery , alfred hitchcock , get smart , big valley & tons more .

On saturday night they show all the horror classics that 60's & 70's kids grew up with , tonight they have a tribute to Lenord Nimoy that starts at 8Pm & will show him in all the other stuff he did besides star trek , ive only had this antenna hooked up a few weeks now & find im watching more tv than ever before & not channel surfing , you guys might want to flip your tv signal over to antenna & just see what channels ya get , we get 22 tv channels that arent available on cable at any price , i may end up dropping cable all together because its got all the shows i liked on 24 hrs a day & its even got a weather channel .

Check your antenna chances are your missing out on some good programming thats free , my antenna is like the one shown on that stupid infomercial & works kick ass with no fuzzy picture .

Anybody else explored the antenna signal on their tv & found killer tv stations ?

Hey, Panhead. I got rid of cable about 7 years ago because of the plethora of free, OTA HD TV channels that aren't even available on cable. I don't watch much TV on my TV anymore, I torrent almost everything so I barely use my DVR. Those ME stations are really cool, and it's great to watch Emergency, MASH, The Jeffersons, etc. at many different times of the day or night. The biggest bonus for me is the both main PBS channels in my city now have subsidiary stations, like channel 11 now has 11.1, 11.2, 11.3 and 11.4 which is PBS all Spanish station! Where I only had 2 PBS channels, I now have 7 or 8. It's awesome not to pay for any viewing anymore, and to still be able to watch those good old shows from our youth...

You mean I could watch re runs of The Rockford files?? Land of the lost? And Buck Rogers? I'm in !!

i remember having three stations when I was a kid and complaining there's nothing on TV. 300 stations and still nothing LOL

I can remember having to pay the cable bro $50 for all the paper view channels, and then he would hook you up with a "black box". That's when all my friends started being way nicer to me, and my couch was always the wave to surf.

Yup , my thoughts exactly , we've had cable & satalite for so many yrs & are used to having over 200 channels , 99% of which are worthless to me , even on cable pbs is where we get all our news from , the history channel is now a joke filled with reality tv ( brain dead tv ) , the only channel i think we'd miss by cutting cable off would be the Military Channel , the wife & I are both ww2 nutts & love the shows on Military Channel .

We also get the show Mash & Chuck connors The Rifleman via antenna , no fancy CGI just good writing & family programming .

Were probably gonna end up dropping cable & saving $180 a month at our city home & saving $120 a month for satalite at our summer place , we pay just over $300 a month for television & there's never anything interesting on other than pbs & military , we get 3 free pbs stations , i think were gonna end up like you where we drop paid tv all together .

I cant believe how much more interesting television is with the ME stations , i have no desire to flick channels & whats best is the commercials , right now finishing watching Hawaii 5 0 & there was only 4 commercials thru the whole show , Bah Bah Black Sheep is comming up next & then Columbo & after that the Lenord Nimoy Marathon all night , im starting to enjoy tv in a way i havent in 15 yrs .

Anybody who has not checked into their free tv signal really should , its not like the old days with fuzzy picture & rabbit ears with aluminium foil , picture quality & programming are top notch , members in their late 40's & up will really like the programming , there's even a channel for geezers like me who are over 60 where they play all the old Holloywood icons movies round the clock like Turner classic tv .

Haha! I had the pirate boxes back in the day. Too easy.
But I was also one of those dudes that would program your directv H card for you. What a sad day when they hit the kill button. Sad, very sad. And expensive.

There is a whole lot of ota TV world out there. Pick up a long range antenna and motor. At my last place I was picking up 5 or 6 major cities with 30-40 channels each. There were of course like five or six NBC's and so forth. Besides prime time they might each be showing something different plus sub channels.

My boy did the cards when the satellite boxes came out. I had at least 2 years of quality programming before it got shut down. That was the guy you could always count on to have the most killer bag, too.

You & i are from the same generation so here's a brain teaser from wayyyyyyy back in the day .

Do you remember the 1st Color tv Conversion systems that were supposed to make black n white tv sets turn into color tv's ?

For those who dont remember It was a clamp on magnifying glass that went over the 19 inch tv screen & gave a vague impression of colors , my dad was drunk & installed ours upside down so we had blue grass & green sky for the 1st few days until he flipped the screen up the right way , god bless him he tried so hard .

Now if i can just find a radio station that plays all the old weekly Serials Like Gang Busters , Inner Sanctum & lights out i'd be all set .

My father left us his collection of over 10,000 old time radio serials he bought on cassett & cherished , i had them & kept them in his library in the house we use as our winter house & I fuked up & destroyed them all , we took em all out to the unheated portion of the garage so the house keepers could polish the knotty pine walls & inwall shelving with lemon oil , me being lazy left them outside too long & the tapes got condensation damage & ruined the majority.

I think young folk would enjoy listening to all the old radio shows before television , their excellent to listen while surfing the net .

Ah the good ole H Cards , man i swear we get fuked outta everything good we figure out how to steal

My hook up for the H cards & getting them open all the way was a Detroit police Lieutenant, he would sell you a card for $200 , open your card for $50 & when they started switching the signal he had a deal where he'd open your card as often as needed for $50 a month .

It just got so frequent with it going off i gave up on the H cards like everybody else .

If you remember H cards how bout the 1st pay tv channel where ya had to have a black box , they called it Channel 100 A & B , b was playboy channel .

Wait a sec , are you saying i can still use the existing 50 or 60 ft tower we have at the country house & get more channels ?

We have The motor still in place on the tower & the old Rotor box that spun the old antenna round is in the barn somewhere , is the long range deal your talking about something like that where i could bolt the new gear atop the tower & get more channels ? If so do you have any info where i could buy the gear ? It sounds exciting that i could possibly make use of the tower .

Just move to Belize. One of the locals has a private dish and everybody nearby pays $20 'Merican and they get everything!

My own personal stealth programs would last longer than most anyone else's. Just sayin.
It wasn't that hard to make your own(modify)program. Jedi stealth.........
I programmed most everyone's card for free, mostly the heads I new on the jobsites.

I grew up around the time of Dynasty and Dallas!!

I canceled my cable about 18 months ago. I've saved $1800 so far. Best thing I ever did. PBS is the shit. And now there's like 5 of them lol. Tv shows and most movies suck today anyways.
