Tropicanna Poison F1 fast version from Sweet Seeds

Hello! This is my first time logging a grow. I’ve been dabbling on and off for several years, but this time I’m simplifying things, applying new knowledge such as VPD, and better equipment,
Including:

•3x3x6(I think?) AC infinity tent
•Spider Farmer Dimmable LED (I forget the exact wattage, but it’s more than enough power for the space, around 500 I think)
•Cloudline T6 (the humidity/temp/VPD sensor combined with programmable settings makes this fan more than just a fan)
•ACinfinity 8” HEPA box (with a reduction to fit 6”)
•Reptile terrarium humidifier

The fan is set to speed 1 when the VPD is at .7 or higher.
Below 0.7 it speeds up to 4, which moves a decent amount of air with almost no noise at all. The seed sprouted last Tuesday, and has already been transplanted from its 12 oz cup. I wish I had a camera ready, because the roots were insane. The bottom half of the cup was already filled with roots, and if it had gone any longer would have risked overcrowding.

After the last picture (2 days ago) it was time to FIM and repot! The seedling is 2 weeks old. Here’s a picture from today.
Does anyone else think it looks a little clawed from Nitrogen? I’m not too worried, just curious. It’s still growing. It was transplanted from HF, into HF amended with PRIDELANDS VEG. Maybe I made it a little too nutritious.

I'm going to pull up a chair over here kick back with a bong and watch the show! Every time I had international seed money they were sold out, and I REALLY wanted that strain! She's looking good imo. I like them a little taller when/ if I top them but should be set up nicely for a manifold.

Funny you say that. I was actually going to wait a little longer. I just had this feeling it was time to repot, and I didn’t want to stress the plant twice, so I did both on the same day. I don’t know if that logic holds up or not.

OH and btw, I got it through NASC, check their site if you haven’t already! I heard they have things in stock sometimes when the original breeders are sold out. Hope I’m allowed to reeference them here.

As far as I know, you can shout out anyone you want. I honestly have been leery about ordering Seeds again. Aside from the fact I already have more than I'll ever be able to grow out, my last order never made it and I'm out 180.00 with no recourse, cause it was international.

As far as stressors go, I just did the same thing to a mother I've been trying to clone. She's finicky and I just trimmed her back under 3 ft and put her into a 5 gal hoping she'll be happy enough to be ready to go into flower soon. But she's almost a year old.

Damn! I’ve never had a plant for a whole year. I would think that helps power through the stress, she should have lots of metabolic momentum.

I was a little scared to place my order, not gonna lie. I had never ordered seeds before, but it worked out.

I also have more seeds than I could ever grow, but they are some pollen chucked hybrid from a landrace I got while traveling Peru. I let a few males go because I wanted the life time supply of seeds. But the offspring aren’t very disease resistant at all, and herm super easy. The flowers are ok, but a lot of trouble to get them. And they have some very strange terp profiles, not very strong either. They definitely need to be pheno hunted, very very extensively.

I got her as a clone in... July? I think? I don't remember specifically but she survived my summer depression(one of only 2 that did).
And kept just bumping along. I'm quite surprised that she didn't start flowering on her own regardless of light cycle. She was only in a 3 gallon pot and there is no way she wasn't root bound.

I feel ya, I got a few struggling houseplants. Same reason I haven’t tried growing any bud for about 2 years. It’s nice when plants hang around long enough for me to take care of them again.

I’m thinking I’ll probably make some colloidal silver, and get a batch of S1 seeds from this strain. Maybe I can send you a few seeds when that happens, if it does. Speaking of this strain..
Here you can see how much this plant moves in just a few hours, in anticipation of the lights turning off.

Getting some S1s would be the shit! Is there a reason for your seeming preference to CS over STS? I bought the dry chems to make STS myself 2, maybe 3 years ago, spent $50 but I'm still using what I first bought. STS is also easier to use. My usual regiment is (with STS) 4 treatments 4 days apart and usually by the 3rd treatment you can see sacs forming. If they're not noticeable by the 4th treatment I'll continue treatments every 4 days till I do see them easily.

Hmm, I’ll look into that some more. I was initially put off by a set of instructions found online, saying to take a whole list of precautions and spray the whole plant, and it mentioned that STS is toxic and bad for metal.

Maybe I was looking in the wrong place for instructions! I want to see if I can get a plant to produce only one pollen flower, then hopefully use that to pollinate only one cola. If you have any advice I’d be obliged.

Day 18 above the soil for this baby! This picture is from a different angle, I wanted to see how the nodes are developing. This plant appears to respond very well to training.

I flip one(or two) branch(es), but as far as getting just one sac i have, no clue. I'm not sure you could isolate just 1 calyx as it starts forming to block the ethylene from forming a calyx and form a sac instead. I've got my last seed run documented (somewhat) on another growing forum (I can get you the link) and 1 lower branch flipped with STS made (mathematically) somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 seeds. I didn't do any isolating and made sure the fan was on the "male" branch for the entire week I gave her to pollinate. So it was straight up flying. When treating, I usually wear gloves but, haven't noticed any ill effect if I got some on my arm. I can tell you it stains dry wall! I still advise caution, no fans and use a garbage bag to cover the branches you don't want to treat. Unless injected, STS is immobile in the plant. Resulting in only the treated branch flipping to produce pollen. If you're flipping a whole clone just treat it away from your seed moms.

Good bit of info! Thanks. I might try getting a clone for pollen. I just don’t have two spaces where I can do 12/12, so that makes it a little harder. Maybe should get a super micro tent with the tiniest bulb just for this kind of project. I kinda like that idea

A few house hold leds with the globes off would be more than sufficient for a little 2x2. A few years back I vegged for a bit in a 2x2 with 5 9w bulbs, worked great. If you are flowering small clones for pollen, you don't even need that much light.

I’ll definitely consider setting that up when my budget can handle it. For now I’ll probably have to find some other way to avoid pollinating the whole plant

Well, I did a little more reading, and I’m gonna get some dry silver nitrate, sodium thiosulfate, and yucca extract. Thanks for the input as always

Sodium thiosulfate Pentahydrate is a bit cheaper than anhydrous sodium thiosulfate. Both work but you'll use a tiny bit more of the Pentahydrate

Exactly why I opted for anhydrous. I’m willing to pay a couple extra bucks for something almost twice as effective.

I may have figured out a rough course of action. The daylight hours in my area this time of year should allow me to flower a cutting near a window. I think I’ll root the cutting in the tent, then take it out to flip it and collect pollen. The only catch is I have to do this before night time hours start getting shorter, which would effectively close my window of opportunity.

BTW, holy cow, this thing would probably like to be a monster bud tree. LST starts as soon as I get some rubber coated plant wire

LST has begun. I was inspired by the method bonsai artists use; a wire is coiled around the branches, and then bent to the desired shape. First time trying anything like this, but I have a feeling I’ll be doing it this way from now on.
