trimming&pruning

You shouldn't really trim or prune your plants during flowering.......The only time you need to remove anything from your plant is if there are dying leaves. Other than that, I'd leave it be. (All this depends on how far you are into flowering possibly) I always top during veg stage so I don't take away from bud production.

what exactly does topping mean? ive heard it referred to a few times. is it simply cutting the top of the plant off?? if so what's the purpose?

Topping enables 2 main cola's instead of one. Some say this increases yeilds. I like this method due to the fact that it keeps them short and bushy. Oh and more Bud sites:-)

how do i top afraid to cut leaves off my babys
All you do to top is pinch off the top of the plant. You do this just above the leaf base where it makes contact with the stalk. You want to leave the smaller growth that appears at the leaf base so it will continue to grow. You only want to pinch the center portion of the growth off. Attached is a quick (crappy) drawing of what I'm trying to say. lol
