Trim vs buds

Is there a difference in taste between using trim vs actual buds when making butter? I started off with the trim from my girl and it came out really green and smells strong and has a strong taste when I made brownies with it but not a good strong taste it almost tastes toxic like minty anyone know what it might be

Depends on what you call "trim".

I *only* use the remnants of sugar leaves that are closest to the bud. The rest go to scrap. I also use all of my popcorn buds in my edible pile.

Throwing fan leaves into the mix will cause things to taste like shit.

Using sugar leaves and/or bud will result in decent product.

My theory for myself (and my wife who is my better-half trimmer) is when in doubt, throw it out.

I get about 1oz of good quality cooking sugar leaf/larf bud product for every six ounces of trimmed product (dried), give-or-take.

Note that a significant reliability on taste is how everything is processed as well. What you throw into the mix has no bearing on taste, smell, efficacy or quality if the production of the mixture is crap...

If you use a lot of "greens" then you need to make sure you dry and cure them just like you do with your bud. Otherwise there will still be a ton of chlorophyll and other stuff in there that would be broken down during the curing process. I've made butter from nothing but stems and fan leaves before (LOTS of stems and fan leaves) and it definitely has a more "earthy" flavor to it, but my wife and I actually liked the flavor it added to brownies and cookies.

If you are going to make Hash oil there won't be a difference because you are extracting the THC out of everything then using, basically a 100% concentrate to infuse the edibles. The plant is gone and a few ml of amber oil is left.

My taste wasn't earthy I dont even know how to explain it it was like minty toxic not good T all it made me feel great but was extremely hard to choke down

Sugar trim is just as good as the nugs IMO. I cure my sugar trim just like my flower too ensure a nice and clean extract.

You didn't answer my question on whether when you say "trim", if you mean the large fan leaves on the plant that collect the light.

Do not use those in edibles. The excess Nitrogen they store, and the excess chlorophyll in them can certainly make your oil taste like crap while providing no medicinal value at all.

When we refer to "trim", we're speaking of the "sugar leaves". Those are the tiny leaves that peek out of the middle of the bud, that are covered in crystals. All fan leaves should be discarded on the first pass of trimming.

Yes the sugar leads sorry guys I haven't checked on here since I didn't I dont think I let them dry out (CURE) enough before cooking cause when I used buds it cam out dank as fuckkkkkk lol
