trichome magnification??

I'm ordering a pocket microscope that's 160x-200x; would 160x-200x magnification be too much (powerful) to see my trichomes clearly?

with 200x you'll be able to see INSIDE of a trichome, that means one trichome is gonna fill up the whole filed of view of the microscope's visor.

Which would be very cool, but since the whole idea is to check as many as possible trichomes on the whole plant, to find out more accurately at which state it is, i'll suggest something around 20x to 40x.

IMO something like this works best, letting you actually walk around your plant and examine all buds without having to cut any :

I actually have a digital scope similar to the one you ordered. In my experience with it, I can't get it to focus to actually tell what the trichomes look like. It is the biggest pain in the ass, so I've ordered different jewelers loupes to see if it makes it any easier. I hope you have good luck with it though!
