If you're going soil, Fox Farm soils with 20%-or-so perlite is a good start. You can add vermiculite if you live in an dry climate. You'll need different-sized pots for each transplant. Start with cups, go to 1 or 2 gallon, and then go up to whatever size fits how large you want your plants to get. You'll need a ph meter and ph up and down, but you can also use household items (green_nobody knows his ph, so I'll let him comment).
You next need to work on ventilation, but that is another topic in and of itself.
You'll also need a humidifier/dehumidifier, depending on your climate.
