during flowering? hmmm... not sure about that but during the vegative cycle, in order to top a plant wait until the plant grows its 5th node then chop off the top right above the 4th node this will cause the plant to grow 2 cola's instead of 1. you can repreat this process several times. Top once will create 2 cola's. Top twice will create 4 cola's and so on..

Number 1 Is pointing to a terminal shoot, this is the main growth top of the plant. This is what we cut off when topping.
Number 2 This is the stump left over from toping
Number 3 these are called auxiliary shoots. They will take over as the main growth tops of the plant.

She said before flowering. This helps with the initial stretch in the first few weeks of flowering. The earlier you top the shorter and bushier your plant will end up being.

uncle bens thread on topping is probably one of the best around. Im not a big fan of topping as I prefer the FIM method but that is purely due to the way I choose to grow.
