topping your plant?

i just wondered if anybody could give me a step by step guide to topping your plant its just that its my first attempt and wanted to know that im doing it right any help please?

the first link has a how to description. basically you just pinch off (literally with your hand) the main growth tip above the last node. its really simple

Also, you have a choice of Topping or Fimming Apparently Fimming accomplishes the same thing with less stress, topping would be better to do on the highest part of the plant if you were trying to get the bottom branches to catch up a bit.

Oh I see, it wont be worth topping it till you get those new leaves to catch up, looks to me like you need more light, what kind/how much light you have now?

Also, I'm using 400 w MH/HPS fixture, I'm about 2 days into flowering, let veg for 21 days...going to switch to the HPS bulb in about 5 days...

Oh i'm sorry the new pics look like you could top it, but i'd try Fim'ing

When you get a new top you see 2 little leafy things(the nubs on each node)
If u clip the little bud looking thing inbetween the two leaflets, the two "leaflets"
become new branches

how close do you keep your MH?

Yeah, I got for it any time now. Did you read about FIM? I did that to one and it's making 3 main stems now, with a side shoot on each side of those.
