I have just topped a plant and as i havent done it before i was wandering if someone could take a quick look at this picture and tell me if i have done it correctly, i have follwed the uncle bens topping thread, my only concern was where the second true node was, i figured the little single baby leaves didnt count so i went 2 nodes up from that.

I thought i better double check i have done this one right before i do the others:)

Thanks dude i am hoping for 4 if i have follwed uncle bens technique correctly. I was just a bit confused by true nodes, uncle ben says "The node where the cotyledons attach doesn't count" so i hope i have done it correctly. I only counted nodes with big leaves on them not the node with the first little leaves.

you can top again, cut each new node's tip. if you're going for as many colas as possible you can try FIM next time, which is sort of cutting the growing tip in half instead of off, resulting in max nodes from one snip (search for many demos of this technique). remember that in general this will simply produce more numerous but smaller bud clusters instead of a couple huge main ones. depending on your crowding and light penetration this often allows more light to each flower though, increasing the overall quality of the yield. good luck!

four tops is the genetic maximum of most strains.
Really?...........................the plant will grow as many branches as it has nodes in my experience.
Here's a plant topped at 4 nodes for 8 branches from seed.
The fans have been removed to allow light in,don't remove the fans until the branches have developed some leaves of their own.

Thanks for the advice guys, I have 4 plants on the go in my veg cab(first grow) which I think ill top all four this time then when I start my next batch I may just leave them as they are to compare yeild/quality with the topped ones.

This is how they look finished.
Tiny lil budlets indeedy.
nice plants i just found with topping or supercropping you change the hormones from the plant sure giving you lots of bud sites not necesarily more yield but lots of smaller buds and shake but end result is yield leaving plants to finish at 60" height i found to produce the yield i was looking for and that 2360 dry grams per 2000 watts
