Tomahawk and sky master from greenpoint.

I just flipped these on the 9th and definitely think they’re worthy of a journal. This is basically my hunt for a so-called “30%” strain — rosin yield, not THC content. I’ve got one tomahawk (GG4 x stardawg) and two sky master (alien OG x stardawg) and we’re going to take a trip through their flowering process. Here they are at day 3 of 12/12. They’re in 3 gallon plastic nursery bags. I’m feeding them via an all purpose granular organic fert mixed into the soil that’s made of bone meal, feather meal, and chicken manure, but also supplementing with liquid nutrients (P, Ca, Mg, K, and Si) at almost every watering, and adjusting Ph to 6.5-6.

Lighting is a custom built rig consisting of two boards and 4 strips, all Samsung 561b and 301b chips, using 480 watts at full power. Two of the strips have 660nm supplementation. I’ve never been able to turn it up all the way without whiteout occurring. Everything’s in a 3x3 tent with a carbon filter.

Anyway I welcome all comments, feedback, and suggestions and hope you all will enjoy this as much as I do. Tomahawk is on the left.

I grew the tomahawk from greenpointseeds last year turned out great nice fat trichomes and pretty modest yielder.

Forgot about this thread. We’re at a little over 8 weeks. Here’s some recent pics of both. The alien OG leaning sky master is definitely the winner of these 3. The heat is causing the tomahawk to foxtail slightly. The stardawg leaning sky master is by far the biggest yielder, as stardawg always puts out weight, but she’s not as frosty as the alien leaner. The tomahawk appears to be sour dubble dominant. Smells like sour berry bubblegum and is really compact.

Looks great! My friend grew out the sky master and the buds were an oily type of sticky

like super sticky and nice I really liked that bud, you buds look nice dude!!

Thanks! I’m keeping that alien leaning sky master for a long time. She’s easy to clone and fast growing, but next time I’ll have to prune her even more aggressively. There’s a little larf at the bottom. That tomahawk is no slouch either. I like the more compact plants even if it’s a little more work to keep them from getting larfy.

Here we are at day 63. I’m hoping they’ll be ready next weekend. They both decided to put out one last wave of pistils. I’m digging the way the tomahawk is growing. At first I thought she was foxtailing from the heat, but the clusters are nice and dense and close to the bud, unlike actual stress related foxtails. It’s still too hot and dry in the tent and I can’t do anything about it.

Here’s one more greenpoint pheno. She’s at day 50 so no point in doing her own thread. If I had made this thread two weeks later she would have been included. Strain is called rum runner. Triangle kush x purple punch. I’m guessing the triangle kush is why she’s handling the heat so well. Easy to clone too. I’m definitely keeping this one for a very long time.

I had a plant foxtail like that last run. Wasn't heat. Could be excess N.

Interesting. All the soil is from the same batch and none of the other plants showed it. There’s compost in my soil but I don’t add any N during flowering. I figured almost all of it would get used up in the first 3 weeks of flowering. During flowering I supplement a little P, K2Si205, and calmag but that’s it. That tomahawk could be a light feeder maybe?

That could be it. I know I have a few strains that take more than others. My bodega Bubblegum will get nitrogen deficiency at the same strength nutes that makes my cackleberry get nute tip burn.

Both my bodegas seem to be really heavy feeders as well. One went into flowering a week ago and the other is going in as soon as the ones in this thread come down. I’ll be interested to see what happens with the tomahawk clones. It will be cooling off by the time I flower them and I’ll dial back the nutes as well.

I chopped the tomahawk a few days ago and trimmed her up today. I’m going to let everything cure for a while, do one last trim, and then weigh it. The buds are quite loose and airy, and a lot of the lower stuff is straight up larf. I filled a half gallon mason jar about 3/4 of the way up with nice buds, but not even the top colas are all that dense. Frosty as hell though. I was going to chop the sky master today, but she’s decided to shoot out one last wave of new flowers and still has a lot of clear trichomes. I think she needs one more week.

And here’s one more pic. I guess I’m adding the rum runner into this journal. Here she is at day 57. She looks like she’ll be nice and ripe at day 70 and is probably the nicest pheno I’ve found since I started growing about 18 months ago. Big fat dense frosty buds all the way. Awesome colas. I can’t wait to really blow this pheno up. I only have one clone, but she’s healthy and can be made into many more.

I chopped down the alien leaning sky master tonight at day 76. She could have gone another few days but I needed the room. This one blew the stardawg leaner out of the water in every respect — resin production, terps, and yield were all superior. The stardawg leaner has a nice citrus chem smell but isn’t as frosty and I only filled up a quart jar with nice buds. I’m getting way more than that from this one. Here’s some pics of the two main colas and the whole harvest hanging up. I’ve got two clones of this one, and I’ll be interested to do a head to head blaze off of this and the rum runner, which is the obviously edited pic in the set. That should be ready in another week or so, since tomorrow will be day 63 for that one.

Here’s a pic of some cured tomahawk buds. I know I could have trimmed them better but this is all personal production. I’m gonna see this thread all the way to the end. It smells amazing. Definite sour dubble leaner and smells amazing. Sky master is curing and looks pretty damn good, but not as good as the rum runner which is coming down soon. I’m going to explore the best parts of some of these plants with a cross I ordered from cannarado. Gushers x sour dubble. Should get me something with all the best aspects of the plants in this journal.

Here’s all the tomahawk and sky master larf, ready to get processed into butter. Sometimes I really wish I could blast this, or even better yet make it into distillate, but I don’t even have space for a closed loop, and I would probably have to clean out my savings for a good one. Forget about a closed loop AND a short path fractional distillation setup.

What's your butter process like, I too have butter seasoning?
I was thinking about cold alcohol washing then distilling for edibles if it boosts efficiency.
Though the butter that comes out of the oven+crock pot around here is fairly effective at ~2 oz per lb butter.
