Timer broken

hi all just a quick question my plants have been doing fine but I went to see them today after 3 days only to find my timer had broken I don't know if it had broke on the first day or today when went. So I'm guessing my lights have been on for 24 hours a day. My question is will I be able to just get a new timer and put them back onto 18/6 without the risk of them going into flower???

Veg. your fine won't flower on 24 hr.

Yep, lucky you this happened in veg not flower, no issues.

Make sure you have a decent timer designed for lights. With cheap timers, the contacts can't handle the amps and can weld themselves on.

I brought timers that's contacts can handle 30amps. Sure they cost more, but it's an important piece of equipment.

what I do is just get my mom to turn the lights on and off. saves me $10 on a timer and gives her much needed excercise

It is best to use a relay with cheap timers so they don't f$ch up. A 40 amp relay using a 12vdc coil can be purchaced for $5can. Use a 12vdc adaptor plugged into the timer with the 12v source going to the relays coil and the load goes through the relays contacts. There will be a diagram on the relay.
For a lack of a 12vdc adaptor I am using a 9vdc adaptor on a 12vdc relay. Works fine and keeps the load off the timer.
No more melted timers.
