Hey guys, here's a run down of the (MANY) MJ bills that have been introduced to regulate/tweak the legalization. Contact (email, write, call) your elected officials if you support (or better yet, if you don't!) any of these:
The first big one:
Rep. John Lively, D-Springfield, introduced a measure, House Bill 2636, that limits a physician to approving medical marijuana cards for no more than 450 patients.
This is especially a problem to those of us who live in the back of beyond where we get the traveling MJ physician show.... At least so far, most oregon physicians are not comfortable approving MMJ due to a plethora of reasons, as such this bill specifically creates problems for those rural Oregonians that use MMJ.
Next:
Rep. Greg Smith, R-Heppner, has two bills that could severely limit sales of marijuana in the state. House Bill 2040 would prohibit retail sales within one mile of a school, and House Bill 2041 would allow localities to set up a one-mile exclusion zone around schools.
1 MILE would basically mean you can't have retail in many cities as there are schools spread throughout the community.
Followed by:
BUTANE HASH OIL: Measure 91 prohibited home production of the powerful marijuana concentrate. In Senate Bill 464, Sen. Floyd Prozanski, D-Eugene, proposes extending the ban to medical marijuana users.
(apparently some dumb shits blowing up their house creates blowback for the rest of us)
Now a good one:
MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES: Prozanski also introduced a measure,Senate Bill 460, that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to remain in place even if a school moves into the 1,000-foot exclusion zone. Prozanski said he doesn't think it would be fair to drive a dispensary out of business in such a case.
-----
Note: up to now our legislature has shown to be even more pro MMJ than the electorate, however it would be wise to get in contact with your reps to say that you support (or do not support) X bill just to be on the safe side. The house bills 2636,2040, and 2041 are the most worrying to me personally....
