This is my first post - looking for some help

These 2 Headband seeds sprouted a week or so ago and seem to be OK, BUT no there is definitely a problem. Especially the smaller one. The larger one seems to be OK except for the tip of that leaf.

I also have 2 feminized Afghan Kush Ryder seeds that just cracked open today and the root tips are growing so I'll have those as well. I'm thinking maybe I should do a thread with updates, pics, etc.
The soil these 2 are in is prob poor quality. It's the big name brand seed (don't know if I can say the name?) starting potting mix... I have a little jiffy greenhouse and was wondering if you think I should put those AKR seeds in peat pellets instead of this soil I used for these.

Does anyone have any input? I would really appreciate it and apologize if this is not in the proper place.

Edit: Also these are just under 2 CFL's at the moment. One is day light 23w 1,600 lumens and the other is a 2700k warm light 55w 3,800 lumens

Looks like your soil may be a touch hot for seedlings but I think they will do fine if you just keep them on water only. I think you can mention brand names, nobody has ever hassled me over it. Pretty clear you don't own the soil company! Good luck!

definitely splurge a little money on some good soil if you can (fox farm, roots, others) and cut it with a little perlite (2 parts soil to one part perlite) when they are well rooted and ready for transplant. that soil looks like it may not be as loose and aerated as the plants prefer.

besides that, they look OK. you'll need more light eventually, by the way. you'll know when, the plants will tell ya.

One of the cups that didn't sprout anything - I went to dump out the soil and what was inside? Larva - tons of larva - mites or perhaps ants. I quickly threw it all away. Could one of these cups have the same infestation? I can't believe I used that soil, just very very low on funds. I should have baked it in the oven, but I did not read about that until it was too late.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Larva?
Mites?
Ants?

Yes..... it's really easy to get confused identifying these buggers!

Ants are just larva with some short legs, and mites are simply little ants made in China.

Those might be Maggots, Fungus Gnat Larva.
You can encapsulate your soil with a layer of perlite 1-2" thick in the bottom of the container, and a layer on top.
Bugs don't like to crawl through that stuff

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I think I might have taken care of the bug problem (fingers crossed). Do these look like I should transplant them yet?
Any comments, suggestions, or anything else would be much appreciated as always. - BSF
