Thinking of moving to start a dream/occupation in MMJ industry. Advice needed!

Whats up everyone! Im 23 years old and I am looking to move to a medical marijuana state in which I can grow for a living. I have some experience in growing and literally read everyday and watch you tube channels everyday to educate my self. The answer I cannot seem to find is if it is really worth it to make the move to pursue this dream of mine. I was thinking of starting just with a bedroom full to get started and working my way up slowly. I am thinking either California or Washington and I am trying to weigh out the pros and cons here. I know growing is not an easy way out and a quick route to cash all the time but this is more about self satisfaction than making money. I have my parents to help fund me to get started and was thinking of dropping 10 grand to start off. Any advice is appreciated!! Maybe I should move first and find someone I could shadow for a little before really throwing all my money into this? LEt me know what you think!!

Cheers!

Paul

I would use the $10,000 to go to a vocational school so you can get a real job.

California is full and doesn't need any more weed, as almost everyone can grow. Washington already has people with big bucks going to make more bucks.

There's other ways to make good money, outside jobs too: plumbing, locksmith, mechanic, etc. Landscapers in my area make good money.

In Cali there are so many growers that for most dispensaries it is a who you know. We also have very expensive electricity so making a living out of it here would be tough if you want to do scale. It may be better in WA, but I doubt it. If you know people in the industry, then you could have a shot.

Im in Washington and already have a bedroom and am allowed 15 plants ...everyperson that asks is it worth moving im telling u no...im already trying yo.get in the industry I grow good meds and the dispensaries liked it....problem is only crop out once every two months and get 2 pounds max thats only 4grand every two months so unless ur gonna go.over ur limit dont bother...I.mean I could run 4k watts for flower and get 8 pounds every 4 months but still its not reliable and what happens when the feds make it legal mmj is not gonna be around forever...my prediction is feds make it lefal in next 5 to 10 years

Now I'm not disagreeing with you but every job you listed has tons of people doing the same thing. For every this there's two of that and so on and so forth. One more person growing means it'll be cheaper for somebody else down the line. And really, who are we to say no to a cheaper, higher quality product? :-)

I agree with Danoo, I only know my state WA and it is Booked. I can only assume that it is the same in other legal states. There has been a
surge of people with the same idea as you.If you want to break into the mmj industry, just like Ebay you need a niche market
at this point. Offer the same thing but very unique and be the first provider of it..Good luck my friend.

If I were you I would look into which state is most likely going to legalize next that's closest to you. Being that your only 23 $10,000 is a helluva nice startup on a whole grow room. I would buy your materials and find your location in whatever state you choose. That way you can look into how to become a caregiver or the like when it does become legal. If you get a few illegal grows under your belt or maybe establish a new project that is clone only specific to you. That way you have a niche in that market when it hits. You will already be in business with finished product and clones for the dispensary. Every pot smoker and grower in the US wants to market their smoke, and only grow for a living. But in cali or any other etablished legal state for that matter the market is cornered. Once its all legal there won't be much money in it unless you where one of the firsts in your area. Just my .02cents

Thanks for all the replies. Its really not about making a lot of money for me. Its more just being able to get by doing something I love and I am very passionate about. I was thinking of moving to just be able to practice growing legally so I have no worries. Then when NJ finally decides to loosen up their laws I'll move back here and be ready to go full force with out any second thoughts and also have some good phenos ready to go! I just wish there was more info out there but I guess you just have to go for it with no regrets! haha
