Well I started out with a simple covert operation as I intended to just try to save a little money on my smoke. Well I started by searching a few grow boxes. I was going to start with a PC grow box however decided that that was going to be a little small for what I wanted to do.
Here are a few pictures of when they started in the tote...
I had a few seeds germinating and 4 in there new hydro home...
Same...
A close up of small plant...
Here is the lid of the tote...I was running 3 23watt (100watt equivalent) CFL bulbs. The reflective meterial that I used was a car windshield shade. I got that from Dollar General for 3 bucks (had to have 2 of them) I hot glued it to the tote and lid. Glued a few power strips in and I was all set for power. Went to the hardware store and picked up a few adapters that allows you to screw a light bulb into a standard 110 socket. plugged them in the 2 6 ways and plugged them into each other on a timer and was good to go on light. Measured out a hole for a 120mm high output fan. I measured out the same size hole on the other side for exhaust. I put 2 90 adapters on to make it harder for the light to flow out plus this helped to slow the air coming out down. I do not have any pictures of it however on the top of the intake fan I would set a large K&N cone filter on the lid to prevent dust from getting in. (It looked cool as hell to)
Here they are a few weeks into the VEG stage...I had them growing in totes inside of a large tote!
Small plant and root systems...
Here is where I came into my problem. I thought that I was on top of my game...Well I did not know what I got myself into...They all grew so fast and large I could not believe it. I had to get them out of the box they were in and I just had to expand there room!
So this is what I came up with. I went and got a tote and a fence post. I took what I have learned here on the interweb and mad this contraption!...
I took the CFL bulbs out of the tote and rigged them up on the hanger rack of the closet. I also took the fans out of the totes and attached them to the same bar. I mounted a 6way with surge protection on the all just in case things start to decided to pop off lol. I out the timers on the lights and one on the fans just because I was not sure of full time air is a good thing for them or not.
Here is a shot of the other side. I have to thick dark blankets that I hang up just in side of the doors to not allow light in the cracks of the doors. The only thing that I think that I am having a hard time dealing with is the temp in the closet. It does not get to hot but hotter then what the plants would like I think.
Once I decided to take them out of the tote and make something larger for them there were plants in all of the 6 holes + one in a GARBAGE CAN LOL! Once again I came to the same problem even with the garbage can...height...
I had a decent sized hole cut into the top of the can lid. I put a 120mm CPU case fan on the lid blowing in. I then put a hole at the bottom of the can to exhaust...If I would have had the fan exhausting it would have shred the plant up as the plant was way to tall even for there....
Well through this site I was able to weed out the males and make room for just the ladys in the closet. I do have a few openings in this set up however it just makes room for the rest of them.
Anyway tell me what you think/questions
Dan
