IMG_6612.jpgWhen checking out a new strain I check out the obvious...growth rate, distance between nodes, trichs., odor, preference for darker green leaves (stands up to mites...ect bla bla bla The other thing that I check out (fist time only) is the roots ability to put out "hair". It has nothing to do with the benificial bacteria and fungus even though I still use some of the cheaper stuff ($12 for a pound of infused dried clay bits). I have grown Sensi's NL5 x Haze off and on (mostly from cuttings) for while and have never seen enouther strain match it for short term root growth. Right not the only thing in all 3 stages that I have is the Sensi and Mosca C99...the C99 beats the Sensi hands down in quality of buzz but when it comes down to vitality (growth rate, ability to fight off pest and diseases) the Sensi wins hands down.

The big diff. between the two other than the obvious is that I havnt been able to get the C99 and other Sativa dominants to have small roots look like they are covered in velvet. The pictures I have are from a Sensi seed that was almost too small to germinate..it was closer to a 1/16 than a 1/8 of an inch, it was by far the smallest bean I have ever bought....when it germinated it came completely out of the seed husk and was lying on top of the soil..this is the only time a LED light proved to be the best option. I gently poked the tap root end down into some extra fine ground fox farm ocean mix and 12 hours later to my suprise out came a small spec of green....looking under a 12X mag. I peeled back the soil and way in addition to the leaves there was a tiny ball of what looked like white velvet...after less than 24 hours of germination the tiny tap root was already putting out loads of tiny hairs...the pictures below are from like the 5th generation of cuttings. Pictured is the end roots of a 1 week old cutting...(1 week after roots extended beyond the 2" plastic pot).
