Rome is burning.. Will Politics continue to bind these men? The budget is the number one national security issue. When will these men be held accountable? We the People must keep their feet to the fire and demand a balanced budget with a reform of the entitlement system. What do you propose and how long will it take?

Good article, A balanced budget is Obamas Achilles heel - http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/budget-battle-entitlement-reform-obama-achilles-heel-holtz-154433826.html

Social Security is not an entitlement. I've been paying into it for 3 decades. It's a safety net that we all pay into. Damned good thing we have it. Looked at your IRA over the last few years? How's your real estate value doing the last 6 years?

Here's my problem w/ what many on the right call "reform." What that really means is cutting social services for the very poorest in our society and raising their tax burden while reducing the burden on the very wealthiest amongst us. The notion that all those at the top would then allow that $ to trickle down through the economy is laughable and historically a false logic. If that fallacy actually worked our economy would be booming. The top brackets have had their income explode over the last 2 decades while the rest of us have stagnated economically.

That's hypocrisy at it's height and just plain bad policy.

That is a cute graph... However, the IOU's in the federal budget are counted as an asset not as an expense. What would the graph look like if they actually showed the hidden costs of raiding the social security trust fund?

DO NOT question the feds' slight of hand! Such questions only serve to upset the pigeons in the coop. If we need more money we'll just print some up. This is an election year, dammit!
