Testing ph.

I have a pool water testing kit, and im wondering if i can test the ph level of my water source?

It measure ph by the red-contrast after adding this red dropplet thing. But im not sure how much of the red-dropplet thing to add.
Because it says the amount of dropplets added to sample, depends on how much the pool holds in gallons.

Also what ph level should i be looking for? 5.0?

At or slightly above the low end is the sweet spot. I let mine drift up a little before bringing it back down.
I know of those pool liquid testers, they are a little tedious to me. I used it on my pool before switching to all in one dip sticks. Fish tank liquid testers are simple. Using the kit for FRESH WATER, not salt water, you add like 5 mil of water into the marked tube, add 5 drops, shake and compare to the color card.
Simple and easy unless your somewhat color blind like I am.

thank you. Also theres alot of algae covering this water, Its gunna suck if this water isnt suitable cus the closest stream is one hell of a hike away.
