Terminally Ill Cancer Patient seeks help starting personal grow-space

Hi everyone! I just signed up for this site on behalf of myself and my mom.


She is a terminally ill cancer patient, I’m her caregiver and I just lost my job.

We can’t afford to buy medicine anymore, so we’re looking for help to start growing on our own.

What we’re asking for is help with materials to build our own grow space, particularly if anyone knows of a company that gives discounts or donations on equipment and supplies (lights, seeds, hydro/aero systems, etc.).

We're not commercial growers and we have no intention of competing with anyone in the business, we just need help becoming self-sufficient.


We could also use advice on where to find a concise guide to growing with hydroponics or aeroponics. We’ve grown in soil before but lack experience with other mediums.

First off I am so sorry about your mother. I know a few people that work in a hydro store in Sacramento I will call them and see if they know of any thing as far as help goes. I have never grown hydro personally so I am of no help but I know these guys from college so I will reach out and try for ya. Again I am sorry for the situation you are in.

You are both in my thoughts and prayers. There are many many good people in the industry. Firstly, I would suggest contacting some dispenseries in your area. Many of them I am sure will have the compassion to donate some meds, and/or seeds or clones to keep her well until you are able to harvest. I am on the other coast of the country and still living in a 'police state'. Hopefully that will change soon. But, I cannot suggest any one in particular because I have never been there for any length of time. Also I understand the issues arrising from unemployment. But if you research this site and others you will see alot of very low budget grow set ups. A lot of people are using cfl lighting and a good sized cardboard box as a grow box, and getting nice yields. If you see a couple you like and contact the posters I am sure you can get help building one. I wish I could offer more advice to you.
