i would guess it could be used as a supplement as some nutes have sugars in it but wouldn't be recommended as the only supply

if you only watered with sweet tea my guess would be that the plant would die. like fallen said it could maybe be used as a supplement with water, similar to molasses maybe?

Sweet tea would not be the best supplement for your plants. Sugar water does benefit plants, but only if its occasionally. But there is not much sugar in sweet tea, also the sugar is not the kind the plant can use immediately so it would have to digest it and make it into new compounds. Also black tea is mildly acidic. So prolonged use would acidify your soil, as well as create a hyper tonic solution in your soil which would pull water out of your plants.

as far as the sugar thing... sweet tea has a shitton of it... most recipes call for 1 cup of sugar for every 2-3 cups of water!!!
