i bet they are in pots right?

pots in a hot region bake your roots like a sweatbox. if you cant put the pots in deep shadows every bit of solar radiation that hits the pot gets turned into heat, trapped inside with the roots and results in death.

keep the sun off your pots 100%, water well, increase the effectiveness of drainage holes by putting your pot on a couple bricks instead of the ground so air flows all around and water falls clear during drainage.

if you cant put your pots in deep shadows then paint the pots white or build a mylar or aluminium tent around the pot.

if they are in the ground the roots will always stay cool, shade or not. you can keep em in the pots if you keep the sun off the pots themselves.

i keep my container outdoor plants' pots behind a low wall of wood i built specifically to keep the pots cool. if the sun doesnt strike the pot, it wont get hot and your plants can grow just fine.

This is true...
A plant can withstand hotter temps if the roots are kept cool...and plants can also survive colder temps as long as their roots are warm...
It's kind of funny...

use smart pots, I've noticed a big difference between my 4 in the smart pots and the 1 in a big plastic pot.

Don't use clay pots...they are pourous and get very hot, the water will evaporate way too fast, sounds like your plants just dried up.
