Suggestions please!

I need to eliminate my trays under the buckets and go with one big tray. I want to put all of my pots in there and have them in one tray like 36in deep by 48 or so long. Any way to do it myself or does htg sell things like ththat'll sure I can hit Home Depot and put it together if I need to. Just wondering if any of my RIU people have already done something like this before?

i think if it were as high on the sides as a tray it would work fine maybe 3 in or so. Maybe install a drain in it too.

If you have a home depot or lowes close by, look around for a cement mixing pan. I have one I use for mixing mortar. It's 24x36 but I'm pretty sure I saw them 36x48 too. Cheap too. I think I paid 10 or 15 bucks for mine a few years ago. It's 6 inches deep, fairly heavy plastic and would be heavy enough to install a drain if you decide to.

You could go ghetto and just make one out of wood, and fiberglass it, or use thick ml plastic. Would work, it just wouldn't be pretty. I was looking for something like that as well for my little cabinet. I ended up buying a big rubbermaid tub and I just cut it down but I dont think they have anything the size you want.

You can buy one online, but most of what i've seen they want almost 100$ for.

You can also make one out of wood and line it with pond liner. Even put it on rollers if you want.

It wouldn't need to be deep to be effective. a 4x4 or 4x8 table would work great, under 2 1000's would be sweet. Just tilt it a little, and drill a drain, and run a small 1/2 hose to a resivoir. Not really a drain to waste, but it would catch runoff, and stay dry. Thats basically what I'm doing with a level table full of 7" plastic pots with coco, top drip fed, any runoff is drained to a res below, that is usually used for flood and drain with hydroton.

i'm gonna do a 4'x 8' sheet of ply covered in panda plastic with 2x4's around the edges. one side raised just a bit so runoff goes straight to a few 1/2" hole directly to a drain i already have in my room. my floor isn't very level so runoff from my 5gal buckets puddles and sits. this should eliminate that problem and make cleanup much easier too

Thanks for all of the great ideas! I need to slam 6 3gallon pot under a 600w cool tube so I think the cement mixing tray will work good for the cheap option. Any bigger ill have to make my own tray I'd say. Ill post pics of my final result.

i use the cement tray for mixing up my promix when i'm not using it for cement. comes in handy. should work for your purposes too. hell i think it was only maybe $15 or so

That panda plastic is going to get holes in it guaranteed and then your plywood is going to swell and eventually start producing mold. You should really use pond liner its flexible and thick and easy too clean up. Trust me on this I have made this mistake before. Pond liner is more expensive but well worth it. You will thank me in the long run.

appreciate the advice. gonna check on the pond liner today i think. got a few places just up the road that deal in that stuff. thanks again

My problem is I need one 2.5 by 3 ft to fit my room perfectly. I have a room under the stairs to my basement. If you could see it you'd be impressed. I have been using it for 2 years and not one person has ever known it was there. It's completely smell light and sound proof. I spent like $1000 just to make it stealthy. You can stand in the basement and have no idea it's there. I have friends with tents and grow rooms that you can hear the fans as soon as you walk in the house. For me I don't want to take the risk. Even though I have my card I don't wanna risk people knowing about my personal business. My wife's mother comes by and she's mosey as all hell. She still to this day has no idea. That's how I know I did a good job lol!

I got the cement tray today for like $13 and some change. I can fit 4 3 gal pots or 6 2 gal. I put 8 1gal in there as well. A little tight though for 1's. I bet if I did a drain to waste coco setup I could use 6 1 gallon pots with a drip feed and get great results. I've Ben hand watering 3's for a while in coco and they're a little too big. My plants finish under 2.5 ft most the time so 2 gallon is perfect for the hand watering.

nice! glad to see the mixing tray worked out. heading to hd tomorrow to pick up some scrog supplies myself. time to build the screen. now that i'm thinking about it i may pick up another cement tray and steal your idea for my veg area while i'm there. happy growing

Seems like its gonna work. Also the price is right for sure. 1 gal pot you can cram in there well so veg will be ideal for you.
