stretching TRUE or FALSE?

Hyroot , Why do i not no what i am talking about and where are my contradictions then ?

I have used Both Led and Hid, and have avoided any agrument on which is better and why,
all i have stated is that i do not experience any stretching using my 600w hid's,
i am a fairly long haul grower,
i have not made 1 single LED statement on this thread , good or bad,
I don't judge people and am happy to listen to other peoples methods and what works for them, and i am happy to talk about my methods to whom wants to listen,
I suggest your troll comment was uncalled for,
Peace.

thanks hyroot! Im going to look into the blue and red spectrums a little bit more, what your saying seems to make sense, and also goes along with the common knowledge of vegging with MH (blue) and flowering with HPS (red). If I do see stretching with my LED's what are some practices for defending it?

clonex, so through your experience LED's do produce more stretching than HID's? What can you do to defend against this or minimalize the stretch?

thank you both for your input!
I really think it depend so much on your conditions ,
i had some success growing small stocky plants with led's,
however,
as i tend to grow in larger area's with larger type pheno's and needed more coverage and depth, i switched back to hid's,
i keep a close eye on the led market as it is ever changing and improving and i would consider switching back , the benefits are obvious , i have never really had any stretching issues , good air flow has always been my answer, with my lights as close as possible.

good to go

hmm, interesting on the IR theory. One question though, a friend of mine had a 7' "tree" in his house, and had a 600hps on one side, and a 400mh on the other, and the buds on the 400mh side were nicer, (thicker/bigger/denser), any idea? same plant different light.

Can't comment on bud density but stretchiness is totally strain related. My non stretchy strains do not stretch under LED and my stretchy strains do. Period. If you put too many plants under an LED and they aren't getting enough light, they're going to stretch the same as if you do that under an HPS. Only difference is HPS usually gets a little more and more even side light coverage than many LEDs. I have not seen any real difference.
