Stressing plants during flowering

I read somewhere in a grow manual that stressing plants for water during flowering can increase resin production in the buds. Is this fact or fiction?

Are those Mr Nice from Shantibaba? I wouldn't do that. Why mess with some of the best stuff. If you have the real genetics you got something real special. The idea is the roots need to fight to find that water, and thus increase. No real test have been done - that I have seen. I figure the water is what swells the bud. More mass more trics(?). Some people OCD their plantc- let mother nature do its thing. - Your plants good great. Do add potassium though. That will do what your looking for.

I've heard this being true with peppers, but haven't heard anyone doing it with cannabis. Personally I don't think it's worth it, it can't possible make that big of a difference and you risk over stressing or possibly even killing your plants.

yeah heard this too about folks sticking nails thru parts of the stem..

there is a reaction in flow of some chemicals or enzymes in their vasular system (Xylem and phloem)

from what I read awhile ago once you super crop them (or add a nail or stress them) this is the reaction that happens. less phloem or less xylem is produce into the effected area of the plant causing the plant to feel that something is wrong and making it fruit or flower.. and well it suppose to work have never tried the nail or stressing them on purpose but.. I am thinking the science is there

The xylem and the phloem are essential parts of the plant which carries nutrients from the roots and by products of photosynthesis from the leaves to all the parts of the plants. By breaking these important parts of the plant, the plant automatically tries to heal this injury.
Through crimping, the cannabis plant concentrates on healing this injury and places all nutrients on the crimped section rather than allocate it for further growth. Thus, this technique is advisable if your cannabis plant is a fast grower. Not only that, the plant will rebuild its broken parts sturdier and improved than before, thus making the whole plant stronger. On perfect growing conditions, the repair of the broken xylem and phloem would only take twenty four hours.

In simple terms, crimping is squishing some portions of the plant using your finger, particularly your index and middle finger, but being careful not to completely flatten the stem. The ideal location to crimp a plant is in a section of a stem below a node. You can crimp your plant as early as its seedling phase.

Use both of your hands, so that accidental pulling of the root could be avoided. Having the other hand as a support, gently twist the part to be treated with two fingers until you hear a soft snap. For more mature branches, you could have two hands twisting on opposite directions. For younger stems, twisting is not necessary. Only a firm grasp will cause the breakage of the inner layer.

Don't know what seed bank they're from, I picked up a clone from one of the local dispensaries, and you are right, it is a very special strain if it is the real deal. I believe that to be true as well, that water is what swells the buds. I will continue doing what I'm doing, seems to be good results for a first time grow..

What I try to do is water the outside perimeters of the soil so the roots grow outward searching for more water.

from what ive seen of people doing what you ask about it can increase resin production but you will almost certainly lose size and weight of your buds. So it can be a question of quality or quantity.
Its not guaranteed of course, you could just hurt your plant and stress it to much resulting in a hermo or something

You can increase bud growth/formation through additives in the soil. Low stress training techniques work during flowering phase I haven't seen a substantial weight difference in dry buds though when not LST. High P in your nutes will increase bud sites and weight of thouse buds

All my plants were LST through there entire growth cycle, I get more top colas, but my resin content only increases with the Carbs i feed it

Next grow have a plant set aside to experiment on. Or us the plants that don't look "hot to trot" early on and experiment on those.

yes - most do. Many use the Colloidal Silver (CS) for making FEMINISED seeds. I knew a guy who made these feminised seeds and all were hermies. I also know another guy who had all his seeds female.
Do it the right way and cross polinate using quality solid genetic linmes.

One thing for sure - cannabis does not like wet feet. Let them at least dry out between waterings. If they are in ground, look at the plants around. Everything is very green around my spot. I usually don't give them much extra water during flower.
