STR8 CLOSET GROW - Hows It So Far?

What up.. posted some pics a while back of a plant that wasn't getting nearly enough airflow + i think it was a male so i pulled it. Here's the last plant from that batch aswell as a young short rider plant.

Ill start by sayin this is all a closet grow and its been purely for fun and experiment and to see if i could actually get some homegrown. This setup was pretty much next to free. I copped the old flourescent fixture off my friend for free and replaced the lights w/ 40 watt Phillips™ "Plant & Aquarium" and "Sunshine" bulbs from Home Depot (and yes, the fixture is suspended from arm straps from an iron gym ). Started all the plants off in Miracle Gro - then transplanted to Schultz (9 month feed that comes in blue bag).

Planted the bigger plant on 5/6/10 and it was a bag seed of some fire mids i got from a bangin house party. The other seed is from nirvana and i mentioned before it was short rider.

Basically just wanted to get comments, suggestions, and feedback from anyone on how i should continue from here.

Plants are on 18/6... no nutes added; just straight tap. dont even have a pH scale. LOL. w/e im satsfied with the meager setup

EDIT: I know their growing tall and slow but I'm living with that till im not lazy and order some new lights.

Looks nice dude.. Although I really would recommend a couple of very critical things :

1)you should put a slight effort and get one of them PH meters.. its very important .. if the pH of your tap water is too high you will get the plants to prefer becoming a male.. you really dont want that ..
2)it would be favorable if you just left the water overnight in an open container so the most of the chlorine evaporates.. and never pour the entire thing .. pour slowly and leave a little bit of water at the bottom because it MIGHT contain some nasty sediments.. just makes it a bit better for the plants..
3)did you have anything in mind about odour control ? this shit is gonna stink like pussy if they turn out female and bud for 10-12 weeks..

yea ill get that meter on the top of my list. tbh the odor is what i fear the most... whats the most cost effective way to manage the odor? i think this setup could also benefit if i hung a mH bulb in there

yeh i always veg with mh i have both 400 and 600 to suit my needs.. no need to get 1000 unless your'e really crowded in there like 10+ big plants atleast.. the most effective I suppose is definitely a carbon can filter with an inline fan .. not only it will eliminate odor but it will also circulate air in and out your closet, thus provide with fresh co2 and other elements your ladies need... there are also other "odor masking" solutions but they are far not comparable to the ol' can ....
