StinkBud Inspired - Bubble Gum, White Berry, Blue Cheese, Durban Poison

Well the first time I ran my "Mantis" StinkBud inspired system was during last year's holidays and I experienced many issues which I was unable to handle in a timely manner, combined with the fact that I was using unknown genetics, made for a very sad crop. This time around I come better prepared and expect to yield much better results!

If you have not yet read StinkBud's "Harvest a pound every 3 weeks", I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed. I do vary slightly from Stink's system, mainly in the nutrients, as I already had a decent supply of GH Flora 3 part, I am using this until I can go organic.

Well these ladies were put in 12/12 on 2/7 - (2) Bubble Gum (4)Durban Poison, (1) Blue Cheese, (1) White Berry - the couple in the back are first generation mothers hence they are a little bigger.

I'll update as often as possible. Feel free to ask any questions =)

I have just become another number in the unemployment statistics and due to the recession will probably have to uproot my family to somewhere more economical; as such, I will have to set this wonderful hobby to the side for an indefinite amount of time.

I have learned much in the short time here, and appreciate all of the input and feedback I have received. What all of you have taught me is priceless and I will continue to pay it forward as much as possible.

Peace and Happiness to all,

To anyone still following this thread, hello. I am happy to announce I am back to RIU and back to harvesting my own medicine.

ColdFlo - thanks for the suggestion, but as long as this wonderful plant remains illegal, I'd rather not take a chance, this is my personal medication and food, one which I do not have to wonder if and what "extra" ingredients have been used to get it to me.

When I get a chance I'll start a new journal, for now, here is week 4,

having just added my 3rd StinkBud/Mantis to my 2 week cycle SOG. I may soon change to 2 units on 8 weeks total (for the Indicas) and 2 units on 9 weeks total (for Sativas) - we'll see how it goes this time around. Right now I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to move or swing my HPS inside of my tent so that it's constant movement evenly covers all the units with lights - any ideas?

Just a small update for any who care to see.

Here is Mantis II at almost 2 weeks of 12/12, the growth rate in this thing is amazing!

Trying SCROG for the first time, I think I've got super cropping down so this should be a fun and rewarding experiment.

Here's all 4 of the systems running in harmony; the set on the far left is @ 7 weeks of 12/12 and suffered great stress halfway through. I'm surprised they survived.

GL,

Your set up looks even better than before! Nice and clean and productive. Cudos buddy...you're an inspiration.:peace:

P.S. I'm curious...how much space is needed for those four units sitting next to each other?

Thanks, as you know, its a lot of work, but well worth all the effort, especially when building on Stink's methods.

I've got 4 systems running inside of a standard 4'x8'x6.5' tent, each one taking up ~2'x4' footprint.

I am currently running less wattage than I'd like to, (1) 600W HPS, (2) 250W HPS, and (1) 100W CFL (Rated 1000W). On average I pull 8-10oz dry every 2-3 weeks, but I did reach 16oz from one harvest when I had CO2 running.

I plan to build out a room later this fall and hopefully I will have the budget to upgrade - I'm thinking of (1) 1000W MH to light the entire flowering room and (2)600W HPS (Dual 600W ballast) on a light mover with each lamp covering a row of (4) Mantis systems for a total of 8. I'd be running (4) on a 8 week schedule and (4) on a 10-12 week schedule for the sativas.

Your planned setup sounds alot like what I will be planning to implement once I move. Even down to a row of Indica's and a row of Sativas. Sounds great! As to your future lighting setup...am I correct in saying you'll have a dual setup of 600's on a track for each side...so 2400 watts total plus the 1k MH, or am I wrong and it's 1200 watts plus the 1k?

1200 + the 1K - the 600s will be cool tubes so I can run them close to the canopy. I'll probably sprinkle some T5s and/or CFLs. I know I could yield more with more lights, but I have many factors to take into consideration, and energy costs are high on the list.

The girls are looking so nice! I can't believe what a difference it has made to cut the nutrient soup by nearly half forcing them to work hard for their food and grow nice and big with plump buds that are just mouthwatering.

I can't vouch enough for Stink's technology and methods, it really does work; not only that, it brings out both the best of the strain as well as the grower.

GringoLoco...

I like the setup and how it fits in a 4x8 tent. My question is this - How do you get to the reservoirs for changing/cleaning? The pump will not totally drain the reservoir so I'm wondering if it is a hassle moving everything to change and/or clean.

What final dry amounts are you getting? CO2?

TIA

No CO2 this go around, although I have a setup, I'm waiting to finish a new room where I can run it right.

I only take the reservoirs out when I'm harvesting, or to replace if there is a problem.

When switching out nutes, I plug one hose into the 'drain' with the ball valve and open it, having it drain down the sink, while another hose fills the reservoir simultanously. Eventually all of the nute soup will be replaced with H2O, at that point I close the ball valve and fill to desired level before adding new nutes.

When I do need to move the reservoir sometime during bloom, I remove the lower front 14" PVC piece, drain the reservoir to the lowest, unhook both of the "feeder" pipes and the reservoir easily slides forward without much effort at all.

I am currently waiting on a new light, but up until now I've yielded any where from 6oz to 16oz in one run, a lot of different factors, including grower induced stress, genetics, CO2, no CO2. I should have everything right where I want it come winter time.
