Stem Crack

I was transplanting my beautiful white widows into a 5 gal. bucket for flowering after 3 months of veg. one of the stems cracked about 12 inches from the top :-( I took a wood dowel for support and split a straw to put around the crack for a splint. It’s not looking good though, after a few hours everything above the crack is completely limp. So I’m not going to start flowering until I know this is dead above the crack. My question is, can I cut off and top it and continue to veg it if the top is dead? Or any other suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.

as long as there are nodes below the crack you can just break it off and your plant would be topped and grow pretty nicely in flowering

...and should I snip it off just above the next node down from the crack, or just right at the crack. I’ve never topped before. Thanks

As long as it's not been completely detached from the plant you might be able to save it. I snapped my main cola stem about a week or so before flowering started and, now I'm a couple of weeks shy of harvesting, you'd never know it happened..... mj plants are incredibly tough and resiliant. Like yours, mine went a bit limp and wilted for a few days, but it soon bounced back. The snapped area has now formed into an elbow type formation and looks (and feels) incredibly strong.

If it's gone too far though you should be fine still, but you'll simply be without a main cola..... though it may end up working in your favour and you'll get TWO main colas!!

And how big is this momma? 3 months veg?? That'll be a BEAST by the end of flowering!!!!

BTW - I used a little bit of masking tape to hold the snapped stem together.... took it off after a few weeks.... she was right as rain then!!!
