Stealth mini grow journal:)

hi im new to grow but ive been researching for about half a year im about to start my first grow post ANY comments, Advice, or tips heres the pictures of my grow cab out line and how far im done putting my ideas and blueprints together

Have you ordered any seeds? Do you have any seeds germinating?
Are you planning on using those cfls for the entire grow?

I would suggest moving the intake fan lower to the ground so that cooler air can be brought in. If it is next to the exhaust fan all it will do is suck back in the hot air.

i understand that i am canceling the exhaust and intake fan and i am going to just put to fans INSIDE the grow area both with carbon filters(once i make them not too much of a rush for that) and blowing down on the plant (not at a high speed,) and blowing towards the plant stem from the side this withh also have the affect of odar control and for the other questions i am not ordering or germing seeds right now but i am buying them from a third source and SAPPOSABLY they are BC kush, or BC big bud but i am running the lights on 12/12 (ONCE I BUY A TIMER) from seed-harvest any other questions and advice welcome (ROLLITUP IS WAY BETTER THEN ANY OTHER SITE IVE LOOKD FOR ANSWERS STILL WAITING ON GRASSCITY AND ITS BEEN 2weeks:O) thx for the comments ill keep u posted and i am having trouble with my fans the one fan in the pictue blew out so i used the fan blade and glued it to a small motor(like one from a remote control car) so when givin a electrical current it will spin(LIKE A NORMAL FAN) so it may take longer then expected i am planing to start the seeds around next friday (THE LATEST) my grow area is just white printing paper and the power bar i need to add the fans(TROUBLE) and then lights (with chains) and last the garbage bag and pot with soil

and forgot to add i will be using the cfls through the whole grow

here the set up so far.... and i have 6 seeds 1 looks small and one looks like its squshed but ill try it anyway and 3 look bright light brown or almost white with a little bit of brown strecks and the other 3 are darker brownish i need the lights to be installed and i need to pick up a power bar (with a built in timer), a 4" metal desk fan(or another small one depending on the size, and materials for a carbon filter(DIY) anyone have materials for the DIY carbon filter please post and i am going to germinate 1 seed and see how long it takes any best ideas? and i am waiting for the others becuz i need the timer and fan still once i get those i will start others but im running 24/7 light so i dont need the timer(for about a week) but i am going to pick that up before starting the others and if i use 24/7 light for a week or even 4 days and switch to 12/12(what im doing for the rest of the seeds so they flower earlier) would it fuck up the health or anything? thx and ill keep this tread postd

IM SO HAPPY IM STARTING TO GROW

i never got the chance to purchase a fan or 2 and the timer from walmart but im going to start germing 1 seed and grow it with 2 13w cfls set to 24/7 (if theres no light lecks ill set the light and check for lecks tonight but if im not finishd i may not start germing until tomorrow aound 3 when i get home

You dont need an activated carbon filter right away. Your plants will not start to smell for a while. You can germinate and worry about that later.
The power cord you linked seems like it should be fine.
Both of the timers look like they are cheap and low voltage. Check the recommended voltage on the timer, and then see how many cfl's you have.
Just multiply: watts per cfl x the # of cfl's!
I would say get a heavy duty timer because you always want to be safe.

i know i dont need the carbon filter right away but i will be picking up a timer, in approx. 1-4 days i have 1 seed germing since yesterday night and i have one seed i put straight into the soil under 1 13w 2700k cfl, i lost one of the smaller what looks like a baby seed but i still have 3 seeds left (the ones that look whiter and like a white color with light brown streaks along them i will be germing another 3 seeds and leaving the one seed on 24/7 and once i get a timer i will be setting it to 12/12

the pictures below is the garbage bag to prevent light leaks, 2 13w 2700k cfls in a light ficture from a desk lap and rewired and put in a pop can cut so its a reflector and the bottem is cut off so the tip and the plant be low it can get the light and the power bar and white paper also the garbage bag has a chain that is left undone until i oopen it so i can easly roll it up and do it up so it stays rolled up the one cup in the back and 1 cfl in the back is on and the one cup at the very back has the seed i put straight into the soil the oter 3 cups are just soil the soil is no name top soil i found in my garage from last year and its sorta clayie i am using bottled water (bvecuz the ph is 7 even ever time (but only for the first week or so and i am using my tap water which i tested and it red approx. 7-7.2 which should be good and i have another seed germing in a coffe cup with 2 damp but not wet paper towels and a lid some what to keep humidy up and its in the other draw to the same tv stand but on the oppisite side and the other one is half as deep and not good for anything but i am going to use black hockey tape all over a rag. size jam jar and move the paper towels into that and seal it and put it into the plant area where the light is (the black hockey tape should keep the light out and the lights heat will keep the heat up for the seeds to start i will update later once i germ the others

oh and forgot to add the dvd stealth thing i am not going to do becuz i dont have enough room becuz im adding another 2-4 bulbs and a fan (carbon filter added later)

i just startd germing the other 3 seeds that look light white with small light brown streaks and i will up date once the plant or seeds pop out

theres not a big update i waterd the seed in the soil yesterday when i plantd it(1/2 a inch deep) and i used a windex spray bottle that i cleand and washd with hot water and the other 4 seeds (1 by it self in 2 damper paper towel in a black coffee cup with a tuperware lid over top but not seald, and the other 3 in 2 damp but not wet paper towels i sprayd with 7.0 ph water frm my tap out of the windex bottle and placed in a jaM JAR with black hockey tape around it to keep out the light (works perfect) and i place it in my grow area and every now and then(becuz my grow area is in a cabnit and not COMPLETELY seald) it gets a little cold so i hookd up a second light ficture and put a normal 60w idalscent bulb on it (for heat) and i take the lid for the jar off but only leave approx. a 1/4 inch of a opening just for heat to get in it and no light(after i run the other bulb for heat and it heats up i placed in on top of my fernace in the basment altho ithink i should leave iun it the grow area for heat the fernace profieds a LITTLE heat on the bottom of the jar so ill be leaving it in there for about half the day and returning it into the grow area if it is not hot enough (i dont have a themostate to check the heat but my house is usaily around 19-21o celuis thew jar in the grow area when the 60w normal bulb is running is a bit hotter ore like on a flodia day on the beach (around 25-30o celius) i am going to be stating which materials i have and the prices i got them for and other materials i need just to help out any new growers that r doing the same(stealth, mini, no-low budigit, grow)

materials i have:

• a few screw-in hooks (for hanging light chains)--free
• a couple twist things for twisting the copper wiring on the lights and plugs--free
• a few pieces of plain white printing paper(for reflection on the walls)--free
• 4 plastic cups(more if needed)--free
• 1 medium size tuperware lid (for placing 2 of the plastic cups on)(when the water comes out of the drain holes if it does then the water will be kept in the lid becuz of the small ridge on the sides) --free
• 2 small tuperware lids(for the same as above but use one for each plant)(trying to see what ones better to use)--free
• 2 empty pop cans (cut to right size and bottom cut out for reflectors, more once i get more lights installed i will make more of these)(not a big problem but better for fire control becuz if the cfls get too hot then the pop can touching the paper isnt as hot as the actual bulb)--free
• 2 light fictures (only one on for approx. 12/12 and for only one seed until the others are put into soil, any good kind from e.g: desk lamps, lamps, and any ligth fictures)--free
• 2 13w cfl 2700k light bulbs(only one running for one seed, more when the other seeds ar germd and put into soil)--free
• 1 cheap chain link neckless(for attaching to the light fictures and then to the screw-in hooks so the hight of the lights can be lowered and raised)--free
• 1 six outlite power bar(normal)--free(will be replaced by a 8 outlite power bar with a built in timer once i buy it)(or a timer will be put into the outlite and the powerbar plugd int the timer, once i buy one)--$10 for the normal 1 outlite timer and $20 for the 8 outlite power bar with a built in timer( i may be able to get one off my friend for $10 he owes me and a extra $5 for $15 but not sure)
• 1 knife (for stripping wires and cutting the hole in the wood for the cord(s) to g out to the outlite)
• 1 screw driver with different heads(square,flat,X or cross, and others)(for screwing a hole in the wood for the hooks to go in place)(the wood on the bottom,right,left, and tip is HARD what seems to be oak or maple and the hooks or the screws R VERY hard to put in thats why i used a screw driver to make a small hole for the hooks to start in)(thumb tacs used for holding th e garbage bag inplace)(only at the top)(were also kinda hard to push into place)
• 1 brand new garbage bag(black, and i used a normal size but a smaller size should be fine)
• a couple thumb tacs(4-6)(for holding the garbage in place ((ONLY AT THE TOP)(BE SURE TO LEAVE THE BOTTOM FREE AND OVER SIZED SO NO LIGHT LEAKS AND IT IS ABLE TO BE ROLLD UP THE THE LAST SET OF THUMB TACS PUT IN PLACE)
• staples and a stapler for stapling the garbage bag to the right size (just dont unfold the garbage bag and it should be much easier)(staple sides and some of the inside to keep it more flat and thin then wavy and all over the place becuz if a light happens to touch it it may and can burn the garbage bag and even start a fire burning ur house down and/or making a burning plastic smell and blowing ur stealth cover)
• a small bead thin metal chain like used for most house light and fan fictures (example picture...)

• its day 2 for germing and day 2 for the seed directly inside the soil and day 3 for the one single seed in the black coffee cup germing and so far no progress does anyone no if its becuz im usingshit top soil? its kinda clayie and i need to know how long for each?

MATERIALS I AM BUYING SOON:

• i am going to be buying a timer(powerbar with 8 outlite when i get the chance to hike a few miles to walmart timer is used for fans i WILL be buying(cheap 4" metal fan i donno if it makes nose its from walmart i will post a pic in one min
• 4" fan i may get 2 of these one with and one without a DIY carbon filter i will make
• carbon filter DIY cheap walmart materials i have no clue about this all i no is i need actived carbon sapposeably in the fish section and there is a DIY walmart one one this isnt a concern right now i need timer and fan first

well the update is no action from any of the seeds so i placed one of the seeds i was germing into a shot glass with water and left it for about 12 hours and it sunk to the bottom rigt when i placed it inside the water and nothing happened ad i was about to plant the seed in soil but i lost the seed in one of my pots
the other seeds germing have no action so far but ill check tomorrow and post another update also if these seeds dont work i will be buying seeds from another source...another friend also i will be getting different soi and better lights before the next grow attempt if the seeds do not germ or work

i am picking up about a O for 120 and re selling it for 140 or 150 so i should have approx. 20-30 bucks to put into my grow i need to know the cheapest and best soil for growing (BEGGINER) and nutes(also must be a easy to use kind and cheap the soil i do not no how to get into my house walmart is about1 mile from my house and i dont have a car(and also i am doing stealth becuz i live with my parents) so i dont no how i will get the soil to my house from walmart with out bringing a huge bag of top soil thro the frnt door like how will i carry it from walmart? nutes shouldnt be a problem and i PROBLY wont get nutes anyway just thinking about it but for the price range i have i cant so whatever and deduct $5 becuz i am picking up the power bar timer off my friend for $5 otherwise deduct $20(+tax) and wont have money so i MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT FOR A WEEK

i have a question is it better if the bulbs are like this __ or like this? | anyone no? its the 13w cfls and for a update the seed is not out of the soil yet and for seeds germing in the wet paper towel i put them in a different cabnit and put a nomal idealscent circal bulb(original bulbS) in a desk lamp and put the desk lamp over the jar the wet paper towel is it for better heat and everytime it gets to a right temp of about 25-30(i check only by feeling inside the jar ) i close the lid sealing out air and when it cools down i repeat this and 1 seed looks like it MAY have a VERY small tap root but it doesnt look crackd open i can just see a VERy small white spot b the end of the seed

ok thx for trying to help and i will be buying a 4 pak of 23w 6500k or cool white cfls from walmart($11) and soil but i need the soil #-#-# and name brand of the soils available at walmart(i dont even think the walmart greenhouse section is open)

Hey man how is the germinating coming along? And where did you get your seeds? Is it bagseed?
When I germinate I soak the seeds in warm ph 6.3 water until they sink to the bottom. Approximately 12 hours.
Then I move the seeds to a damp paper towel and place ontop of my cable box. Less than 24 hours later most seeds have cracked and are ready to place in the soil. That method gives me a 90% success rate.
As for what soil I recommend? Well you cant get it at wal mart. I like to use Fox Farm Oceans Forrest and I think its the best Ive ever used. But hey, thats just my opinion. I did side by side tests with scotts premium and also organic miracle grow, but the Fox Farm promotes faster, darker green growth. It is $15 USD per bag where I live.
One thing that is a MUST! is proper PH.
You can get a cheap chemical test solution for less than $10 USD.
