No. It depends on what type of hydroponic setup you have. If you have a flood and drain system, then your pumps should run for as long as it takes to fill your plant's space. They also need to be watered 3 times a day. Good luck with the grow.

Yes, on the SH Bubbleponic system you run the water pump 24/7. And no, it doesn't over water the plants. The feeding tubes provide a nice trickle of oxygenated water to the roots.
