Stealth Cab.

Even though ive brought it up in other areas i figure it needs to be here where i can get more input (especially from those who practically specialize in this portion of the forum).

Basically my regular grow is shut down after my current harvest. so i gotta go stealth or give it up all together (dont wanna do that for sure).

Im working with a super small space thats 38inches tall, 29 1/2 inches wide and 19 inches deep.

im trying to get 2zips per month or better. i also dont want to drill any holes in the cab! so for air circulation ill leave the doors open..it will only be closed when i have visitors and then ill shut the lights off so it wont get hot but i rarely have visitors so it wont happen very often/for an extended period of time.

I want to install what i know now to be a cam lock and slide bolt thanks to user Chem Dawg.




need thoughts on
1.how many plants/size pots i can fit in that space.

im guessing 4-5 1gal pots or probably 2 3gal pots. my guess.

2.what type of light will i need to net 2 oz+ a month (or better is good) without heat being an issue or exhaust/intake being necessary. my guess is 150w hps. possibly a 250 if im lucky.

3. is there something im overlooking? im not noob to growing but not experienced with stealth (or semi stealth) growing. open to all suggestions.


heres a pic of what im going to grow in. its got a bunch of growing related junk and other stuff in it now but soon i will clean it out. remove the shelf inside (its not nailed down. it lifts right off) and use the whole empty interior.

I'm in the same boat as you, has been over a year since I had to shut down my grow. Now the only way I can grow is in a stealth cabinet I;m gonna build. Dimensions are 44 inces wideX 27inches high and 16 inches deep. I think it will work using LST. At least I hope so. Any suggestions you could give me would help!

No odor control then? I don't think it's stealth unless it can be ran without being detected. You might look into growing in soda bottles with smaller plants

soda bottles might be a good idea.

for smell i'll see how it goes. odor isn't too bad now and i have 6 plants in 5gal pots (end of flowering) including skunk #1 (smelly as fuk) and the only carbon filter i have is built into my air conditioning (room isnt sealed either).

so i assume w/ small plants in a small cab i can get away with ona or something similar (carbon filter probably wont be necessary but ill add one if need be)


Im stressing most on how many plants ill be able to flower in there...what im looking at in terms of yield and what light i'll need.

if it makes a difference in helping me figure it out right now i flower 1200w (2 600w) at a time. i usually flower either 5-6 plants in 5 gal pots or 9-10 plants w/ 3 gal pots and average right around 1lb (give or take an oz or two mattering on strain selection).

so with that level of capability what do you think is possible with a 150w hps or (dare i say) a 250w. i honestly don't know which would be better in terms of heat for that sized space. i plan on getting a few clip on fans so maybe a 250w is too strong after all. i believe a 150w covers around 1.5x1.5 to 2x2 ft. my space will be 1 1/2 ft x just over 2.5 ft so im not sure what light would be good or if ill need supplemental light no matter what.

ideally i'd like to just hang an hps and it not be too hot for the space but w/ only clip on fans im not sure how that will work. (i doubt theres room for another style fan unless i find/buy a very small one.

im still not sure what i can do w/ the pots though. im thinking 2 3gal pots or 4-6 1gal pots...ill experiment w/ soda bottles but not at this time as i dont have clones available or enough seeds to do it.

Actually im pretty bad at cloning. everytime ive attempted to clone ive ruined it and they didnt root. Ive only tried the water method (take a cutting...put under water...cut again at an angle and let it soak in water till roots develop) ive never tried rooting hormone. might have to this time as i have 4 plants in 3 gal pots in veg that are pretty big sitting under t5s. so its either flower out 2 of them and kill off the other two or get rooting hormone and use them for soda bottles but im asking for pot size ideas for future reference as i will use seeds only (fem most of the time for maximum efficiency)

I hear bad things about ina, good things about vaportek. No personal experience with either.

Probably fit 15 2 liters in there if you run popcicle strains. Meaning one big main cola with little side branching.
Otherwise might be wise to do two big pots and scrog it.

For growing smaller plants t5, cfl, or pl-l lamps work well.

My cab is 30 in tall and I'm hanging pl-l lamps vertically. They're high efficiency for fluorescent lights, run fairly cool, and easy to hang vertical.

thanks for your input. 2-3 plants in wat size pots though? i think (not sure thats why i made this thread) i can get 2 plants in 3 gal pots or 4 in 1gal pots. just my guess.

im thinking i want to use 1gal pots exclusively. they wont get more than 12inches tall by the end of flowering (less than that if i LST which i probably will)

im trying to net 1oz per plant if i do 4 1gal pots. is 4oz with a 150w realistic? its so hard to figure this out since im accustomed to my current 1200w flower room and its yield (right around 1lb at harvest give or take an oz or two).

i wish they made 200w hps systems...i feel that would be a nice happy middle ground between the 150 and 250 that would probably give me the results im looking for.

smell isnt an issue really due to where i live. i just need to go stealth in a cab because its harder to hide a whole 8x10ft room of plants versus a cabinet i can just close and lock. if plants become smelly i can always move them to my outdoor shed as i never have unannounced guests (i always have some warning)

Check out RobbieP's grow, looks like similar amount of space and he has a beautiful slh scrog going

look, 1 oz per month is a lot . i got 1 oz with 150 cfl and half of vegging done in the sun( yes, my plant was rootbound for a week. yes, this was my first grow ) but still it took about 3 months and one plant and ALL the light it could suck up from the cfl's
Try to spread the light evenly- reflectors, add in CFLs ... w/e
And remember the rule the more lumen the better and a minimum of 5000 lumen per square foot ...
Hope you get twice the amount you were hoping for
